1. Evans re-arraigned for kidnapping, attempted murder
Convicted kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, has been re-arraigned over the alleged kidnapping and attempted murder before a Lagos State High Court sitting in the Tafawa Balewa Square area.
Evans’ re-arraignment on Thursday follows the transfer of the case file from Justice Adedayo Akintoye, who is the initial trial judge.
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Special Offences Court in September 2022 sentenced Evans and his co-defendant, Victor Aduba, to 21 years imprisonment for kidnapping one Sylvanus Hafia.
2. Youths protest as vigilante shoots man dead in Anambra
A member of the vigilante operatives has allegedly shot a yet-to-be-identified man dead in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It was gathered that the deceased’s wife just delivered a baby and while he was preparing to go and visit his wife and the newborn in the hospital, a bullet hit him after a suspect pursued by the security agents ran into his compound.
An eyewitness said the vigilante operatives were on the trail of a fleeing cultist, popularly known as “China,” who was also said to be a notorious criminal.
3. Umahi, Anyim can’t dim PDP’s chances, says gov candidate
The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ebonyi State, Dr Ifeanyi Odii, has said the new, but ‘fake’ romance between Governor David Umahi and a former Senate President, Sen Anyim Pius Anyim, cannot stop his party from emerging victorious at the poll.
Anyim, had on Wednesday, at his Ishiagu country home, in the Ivo Local Government Area of the state while playing host to Umahi, declared his support for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Hon. Francis Nwifuru.
Anyim, who is a chieftain of the PDP, said equity must be allowed to hold sway in the state.

4. AbdulRazaq reelection bid receives boost as YPP Guber candidate Gobir steps down for him
Following the victory of all the National Assembly/Presidential candidates of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state in the last election,Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq reelection bid on Saturday has received further boost as the Gubernatorial candidate of Young Progressives Party Alh Waziri Yakubu Gobir and his supporters on Thursday stepped down to support him.
Similarly, Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ilorin East/Ilorin South federal constituency and one of the strong supporters of Sarakis political dynasty, who came second in the last election Hon Wahab Issa has also joined Governor AbdulRazaq in APC.
Other leading defectors included Hon Gbenga Oyekunle,Federal house of Representatives,ADC candidate for Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun who lost in the last election,a member of PDP, and former commissioner for Sports Kale Ayo; another member of PDP and former Commissioner Hajia Aisha Ahman Patigi; PDP’s Haruna Likpata; former council chairman and senior legislative aide to Saraki, Wasiu Bamidele; among several others.
5. We‘re committed to due process, staff welfare — NSITF
The Management of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF, has dismissed the allegation of award of frivolous projects .
This came as the fund said it is committed to staff welfare,better living and working conditions of its employees.
According to the fund all contracts it awarded were properly evaluated, awarded and executed in line with due process, passing through advisements and necessary approvals from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) .
6. Poll result transmission: Lagos APC, SDP seek leave to appeal judgment
The All Progressives Congress, APC, and Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Lagos State have applied for leave to appeal the judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, should electronically transmit the results of Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections.
Justice P. O. Lifu had given the order mandating INEC to electronically or digitally transmit results, following the suit brought before the court by Labour Party, LP, and its governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.
According to a statement by Lagos APC, Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, on Thursday, though, SDP being an interested Party, had approached the court to void the March 8,2023 judgment, the court refused, thereby warranting the application for the leave to appeal.

7. Traditional rulers endorse Makinde for second term
Traditional rulers across Oyo State have declared support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s re-election on Saturday.
Makinde, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is expectedly a top contender in the election. He will slug it out with Sen. Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chief Bayo Adelabu of Accord, among others.
The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Alao on Thursday, said traditional rulers in the five broad zones of the State have already expressed their support for the incumbent, stressing that he was only affirming their position as the deputy chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
8. NASS supplementary election hold in 15 States
About 41 National Assembly seats covering eight Senatorial districts and 33 Federal constituencies will be conducted with the Governorship and Assembly elections this weekend.
While the Senatorial election did not hold in one Senatorial district (Enugu East) as a result of the death of the candidate of the Labour party, it also did not hold in one federal constituency in Edo state (Esan Central/Esan West/Igueben) because of the omission of the logo of one of the parties.
The National Assembly elections in Sokoto State have been suspended with the supplementary polls involving the three Senatorial districts and 11 federal constituencies.
The rescheduled elections in Sokoto and 14 other States will hold on Saturday.
The States where Senatorial elections will hold are Enugu (Enugu East); Kebbi (Kebbi North); Plateau (Plateau Central); Yobe (Yobe South); Zamfara( Zamfara Central) and Sokoto (Sokoto East, North and South).

9. Osun govt assures residents of peaceful assembly election
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has revealed that security chiefs in the state have concluded arrangements to secure the lives and properties of residents as the state prepares for the State House of Assembly election.
Governor Adeleke also warned hoodlums and political thugs to stay away from the state.
In a statement he issued through Olawale Rasheed, his spokesperson after the meeting on Thursday, Adeleke also called on Osun residents to troop out enmasse on Saturday to cast their votes during the state House of Assembly election.
10. Group congratulates Tinubu, says new Nigeria possible
Group, Rescue Movement for New Nigeria has sent a congratulatory message to President-elect, Bola Tinubu.
DAILY POST reports that Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was declared winner of the February 25 presidential election.
The group, which spoke through a statement signed by its Director General, Mr Martins Ugwu, urged Nigerians to keep hope alive, adding that New Nigeria is possible.
