1. Why I reject offers to be Vice President –Zulum
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, on Thursday, said he has received offers to become the running mate of some key presidential aspirants and ultimately become Nigeria’s Vice President in 2023.
He, however, said he rejected the offers to complete the works he started in the North-East state.
Zulum stated this when he was announced as the winner of the All Progressives Congress governorship primaries ahead of the forthcoming general elections in 2023.
The don said, “Let me reveal with apologies, that some close associates of key Presidential aspirants have sent me offers for the position of running mate, as possible Vice President, depending on the outcome of the APC Presidential primaries by the weekend.
2. Peter Obi not joining Kwankwaso’s NNPP -Campaign DG
The Director-General of the Peter Obi Campaign Organisation, Dr. Doyin Okupe, says former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State will not be joining the New Nigeria Peoples Party led by former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Okupe said this during a chat with The PUNCH on Thursday, adding that Obi would not be settling for the position of Vice-President in any party.
He said, “He (Obi) will not be joining the NNPP. You can quote me on this.”
When asked which party the former governor would be joining, Okupe said an announcement would be made on Friday morning.
3. Gov Sule wins APC ticket to seek second term
The All Progressives Congress in Nasarawa State has elected Governor Abdullahi Sule as its candidate to seek a second term in office.
Governor Sule defeated 43-year-old female aspirant, Fatimah Abdullahi, with a landslide to emerge as the party’s candidate for the 2023 general election.
The gubernatorial primary of the governing party was held at the City Hall in Lafia on Thursday.
Announcing the results, the Returning Officer of the APC primary election, Isa Ibeto, said Sule polled 698 votes while his only challenger to the party’s gubernatorial ticket, scored only three votes.

4. 2023: APC Gubernatorial aspirant rejects results of Ebonyi primary election
An All Progressives Congress, APC Gubernatorial aspirant in Ebonyi State, Sen. Julius Ali Ucha, Thursday rejected the Party’s gubernatorial primary election in the State.
The primary election saw the emergence of the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon Francis Nwifuru, as candidate of the party, in the 2023 general elections.
According to the aspirant, what took place at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium could be described as a celebrated fraud, calling on the leadership of the party to annul it.
His Agent, Mr Iziriga Raymond, who spoke to Vanguard in Abakaliki, said his boss will never be part of an exercise that was riddled with irregularities.
5. We are taking off on solid note – Acting VC, LASUSTECH
The Acting Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH, Dr Nurudeen Olaleye, has given the assurance that the university is taking off on a solid foundation.
Olaleye, who spoke in a chat in Ikorodu, said before LASPOTECH was converted to LASUSTECH, it occupied a place of pride among tertiary institutions in the country.
“When our school was a polytechnic,among the over 400 tertiary institutions in the country, it was rated 60. Bear in mind that we have over 179 universities in Nigeria and that means we were rated higher than some universities then. Our legacy is being carried along from being a polytechnic to being a university. We have a rich background that avails for us.
6. Fidelity Bank, Edo government, others hold round table on non oil export
In a bid to explore Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s non oil export policy to shore up the country’s foreign earning, Fidelity Bank in collaboration with Edo State Investment Promotion Office and Germany Institute for International Development (GIZ) has organised Export Roundtable sensitization seminar for potential exporters in Edo State and environs.
Speaking at the event in Benin City, Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Mrs Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe said the seminar is to promote the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) RT 200 FX Policy designed to earn 200 billion dollars from non-oil export products from the country in the next five years.
Represented by the Regional Manager for Edo and Delta States, Mr. Ovie Mukoro commended the Edo state government’s initiative to promote export in the state.

7. Abdulrazaq picks Kwara Gov APC ticket for another term
Kwara Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has won the primary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Governor was elected through affirmation by five delegates each from 193 wards, making 965 accredited delegates.
According to the national officer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that conducted the primaries, Emmanuel Dan-Daura, the delegates were made to go through affirmation since the Governor was the only candidate that submitted expression of interest form to the national headquarters of the party.
8 .AfDB to help Nigeria return to e-wallet system in agric
The African Development Bank (AfDB) says it is ready to help Nigeria return to the electronic wallet system of input distribution to farmers to boost agricultural production.
The President of AfDB, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, said this at a meeting with reporters ahead of the bank’s Annual Meetings in Accra, Ghana.
The e-wallet system was introduced by Adesina, while he was the Minister of Agriculture.

Former Governor of Lagos State and one of the leading aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has stated that to lead the country as President, he does not need the strength of a wrestler or a Christiano Ronaldo.
Tinubu, who was reacting to speculations over his health status, disclosed that all that is required for him if elected as president are ideas.
The presidential hopeful disclosed this on Thursday while meeting with delegates of the party in Ondo State at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office, ahead of the presidential primaries of APC.
He maintained that he is not in the race for the money but for the betterment of the country and the people.
10. 2023: Kwara Speaker, 10 other members secure tickets for re-election
The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, was Thursday returned unopposed to fly the flag of the All Progressives Congress, APC for Ilesha/Gwanara state constituency in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
Ten other serving members of the House were also lucky to secure tickets for re-election in 2023.
The APC Returning Officer for Ilesha/Gwanara Constituency, Zakariyau Qazeem Yusuf, while declaring the result of the election, explained that five delegates from each of the six wards in the constituency totaling 30 unanimously affirmed Engr. Danladi-Salihu as their candidate for the 2023 general elections.
In his acceptance speech, the Speaker thanked his constituents for always standing by him and commended the party, INEC, and security agents for the peaceful arrangement and conduct of the process.
