The incident happened around 7 am on Thursday at Kilani Street, Iyana Iyesi area of Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that a friend of the victim’s mother who was a neighbour sent the girl to her home to get charcoal.

The All Progressive Congress, APC presidential candidate for the 2023 general election, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Thursday said his administration will dialogue with all the groups agitating for one reason or the other in the country.
Tinubu stated this during the Ebonyi State Residential Rally and Ebonyi gubernatorial campaign flag-off at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki.

5. Nigeria Air: Court renews status quo order on FG, domestic airlines
The hope of the federal government running a national carrier, Nigeria Air, before the end of 2022, has been derailed.
This is coming on the heel of a Federal High Court in Lagos decision to renew its order directing the Federal Government and domestic airlines to maintain the status quo in their suit concerning the establishment of a proposed national carrier.
The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, had earlier insisted that no rational court in the country can stop the takeoff of the National carrier.
6. I’ll set aside USD $10bn to create jobs for women, youths in Kwara – Atiku
The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has pledged to set aside USD $10bn for women and youth empowerment in Kwara State.
He made this promise at the PDP campaign rally, in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital, on Thursday.
The candidate expressed sadness that the ruling party lied its way into power and has been unable to met its obligation to the electorate.

7. G-5 Govs: Enemies frustrating PDP 2023 chances
The five Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who recently formed the Integrity Group have lamented their initial plan to build a formidable party that will win the 2023 election is being frustrated by the enemies of the PDP.
They spoke in Abia State on Wednesday night on their arrival to inaugurate the 2023 PDP campaign.
Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike led his colleagues from Samuel Ortom (Benue); Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Seyi Makinde (Oyo) to Abia State ahead of the flag-off of campaign of the State’s chapter of the PDP.
A statement by Wike’s Special Assistant, Media, Kelvin Ebiri, said they were received on arrival by Ikpeazu, who organised a gala night event for them in his country home, Umuobiakwa.
8. DSS withdraws case against alleged terrorists’ negotiator
The Department of State Service (DSS) has withdrawn the suit it filed against the detained alleged terrorists’ negotiator, Tukur Mamu.
The DSS had filed the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1619/2022 before the Federal High Court in Abuja for permission to detain Mamu pending investigation.
At the mention of the case on Thursday, DSS’ lawyer, A.M. Danlami announced his client’s decision to withdraw the discontinue the suit.
Danlami said the case has been overtaken by events, without giving details of what the new events were.

9. Pantami says new broadband plan’ll increase internet speed, reduce cost as FG okays N16bn for eight varsities
Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami on Thursday, assured that he was working assiduously to improve internet speed and reduce its cost in Nigeria, using the National Broadband Plan 2020–2025.
Also, the federal government said it had approved more than N16 billion for broadband infrastructure projects at 18 universities in the country’s six geopolitical zones.
Pantami said this was because digital connectivity and expanding access to information play a role in enhancing the economy.
The Minister spoke at the unveiling of his book titled, “Skills Rather than Degrees Book” and the Launch of Broadband Infrastructure Projects organised by the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) in Abuja.
According to him, “Today we are launching projects to support broadband connectivity in Nigeria and this is an important part of the digital economy. In the world today, the digital economy is firmly entrenched to be a core driver of global growth. It is the single most important driver of innovation.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, has described some of the characteristics of his principal which might not be known to others.

Gambari said this on Thursday, while responding to eulogies poured on him by the leadership of the State House and his staff in a reception organised to mark his 78th birthday in the Presidential Villa.
