1. Gombe bans night grazing, cattle movement
Gombe State Executive Council on Wednesday ratified the decision to ban cattle movement from other states into its territory.
The Exco meeting which was presided by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, also outlawed movement of cattle from one Local Government Area to the other from October 2022 to January 2023.
Briefing the press at the chamber, Muhammad Gettado, Commissioner for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, said night grazing from 6pm to 6am is prohibited.
According to him, this was in a bid to mitigate farmers, herders clashes, stressing that there was need to maintain the food, going by current realities.
2. Policemen flee as gunmen kidnap nine Rivers passengers
Gunmen have kidnapped nine occupants of a commercial bus passengers travelling along the Emuoha area of the East-West road in Rivers State.
Hoodlums have been terrorising the Emuoha-Kalabari road hijacking vehicles and kidnapping travellers in the last couple of years.
A native of Odegu cimmunity in Emuoha Local Government Area, Prince Chukwu, told newsmen that the incident occurred at a boundary between Evekwu and Rumuodogo within Emohua Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday night.

A former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has stressed the need for Nigeria to return to agriculture in order to enhance the food self-sufficiency quest of the country.
Daniel, who is the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Ogun East, also warned the political class against taking the electorate for granted as the country prepares for the 2023 general elections.
He spoke yesterday at the palace of Alaperu of Iperu, Oba Adeleke Idowu Basibo, where he paid courtesy call on all the traditional rulers in Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.
The event, which was part of Daniel’s ongoing ward-to-ward tour across the nine local government areas in the Ogun East Senatorial District, preceded the empowerment and award of scholarships to indigent students in Ikenne Local Government.
5. Shettima commissions Lagos APC Arewa community office for Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu
All Progressives Congress, APC, Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator, Kashim Shettima, and Kano State Governor Umar Abdullahi Ganduje have commissioned an Arewa House in Lagos with the aim to facilitate electoral victory for all party’s candidates in the state.
Shettima, who spoke in Hausa, had earlier visited Arewa community in Alaba Rago, Ojo area of the state, stressing the need for the community to speak with one voice in respect of electing the party’s Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu as president and continuation of the state Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s mandate, as well as all APC candidates in the state.
Shettima said 2023 would be a payback time for Tinubu in the North, given that the APC presidential standard bearer had backed candidates from North in previous national elections.
Shettima also donated N10 million to support the activities of the Arewa community ahead of the 2023 general elections.

7. Awujale, Ijebu monarchs back Abiodun for second term
Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun’s re-election bid received a major boost on Thursday when Ijebu traditional council led by Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, endorsed it.
The Royal fathers took the decision after their meeting convened by the Council’s President, Oba Adetona, at his palace in Ijebu Ode, the Headquarters of Ijebu Ode Local Government Area.
The traditional rulers cited Abiodun’s exemplary performance in office in the last 42 months and the modified Obas and Chiefs laws of Ogun State 2021, which received the assent of the Governor as some of the reasons for backing him.
8. Amotekun may become state police, says RMAFC boss
The Chairman, Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Mohammed Shehu, has expressed optimism that the Southwest Security Network code named Amotekun Corps might signal the beginning of state police in Nigeria.
Shehu, who hailed Southwest governors for the Amotekun initiative, said the security outfit had helped to tackle crimes since its creation.
He spoke when he visited the Amotekun Command Headquarters in Akure, Ondo State.

According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, in Ilorin on Thursday, the police acted on a petition and a letter written to the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State, Paul Odama, by the residents and natives of Patigi in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State and the Association of Licenced Miners of Kwara State to the effect that illegal miners have turned their ancestral lands to a beehive of illegal mining of the mineral resources thereby causing ecological problem and sabotage to the economy of both the state and the federal government.
