1. Osun police begin probe as fire razes shops
The Osun State Police Command on Sunday said it had commenced investigation into a fire incident in which four shops were razed along Station Road, Osogbo, the state capital.
The shops were razed down by the fire which started Saturday evening and could not be put off until the early hours of Sunday.
The operatives of the Osun State Fire Service were reportedly called by the people when the smoke was observed in one of the shops and despite prompt response, it was learnt the fire could not be curbed until three other adjoining shops were razed down.
The spokesperson for the State Fire Service, Ibrahim Adekunle, could not be reached for comment as calls to his line rang out with no response, while text to him had also not been responded to as of the time of filing this report.
2. I’ll fulfil my campaign promises, Tinubu assures Nigerians
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has assured Nigerians of his commitment to the fulfilment of his campaign promises if elected president of Nigeria in the February 25 general elections.
The APC candidate stated this on Sunday at an endorsement rally organised by the Arewa Community in Lagos.
The event, which was held at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan witnessed the presence of Nigerians of Northern extraction who came to offer their support to the former Lagos State governor.
“My respect for this country will continue to increase, and I will honour all my pledges that we all will live in harmony. We belong in each other’s hearts,” Tinubu said.
3. Atiku’s UK trip sparks speculation of ill health
There were indications, on Sunday, that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, was flown out of the country for urgent medical attention.
The spokesperson for the PDP campaign council, however, dismissed the report describing it as a joke of the year.
An online tabloid had reported that the former Vice President was flown on Sunday from Dubai, United Arab Emirates to London, United Kingdom for treatment.

4. Lagos hotelier shoots guest, two others during argument over N4500
A 53-year-old hotelier, Kingsley Enageghe, has been arrested by the Police in Lagos for allegedly shooting a guest at Queens Victory Guest hotel located at Olaonikaju close, off Ijesha bus stop.
The bullet which pierced through the victim, Kelvin Nwabunor’s thigh, also hit the barman and Nwabunor’s friend in the legs
Trouble, as gathered, started during an argument between Nwabuno, 35 and Enageghe, who is the Director of Queens Victory hotel, over the former’s delay in paying for an extra day.
5. Suspected PDP thugs attacked our campaign office — Osun APC spokesperson
Osun State’s All Progressives Congress, APC’s, presidential campaign committee spokesperson, Remi Omowaye on Sunday, disclosed that thugs loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, attacked the Tinubu-Shettima campaign office in Ilesa with the intent to kill.
The former Commissioner for Works in the State, while speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Ilesa after the attack, said the attack on the office was perpetrated after former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s visit on Saturday evening.
The building windows and entrance door, billboards were shattered with gunshots, and bullet cartridges were seen on the floor around the office.
Omowaye described the attack as diabolic and inhumane, saying it is unfortunate that such an ugly incident had been launched twice on his person and property within two weeks.
6. Osimhen scores as Napoli down Sampdoria 2-0
Napoli moved seven points clear at the top of Serie A after Sunday’s 2-0 win at 10-man Sampdoria, who paid tribute to deceased greats Gianluca Vialli and Sinisa Mihajlovic.
Victor Osimhen poked Napoli ahead in the 19th minute before Eljif Elmas sealed the points with a perfectly-place penalty with eight minutes remaining at a soaking Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa.
The win extend Napoli’s lead on Juventus, winners over Udinese on Saturday who travel to Naples on Friday, and AC Milan who are a further point back in third ahead of their home match with Roma later on Sunday.
After netting his 10th league goal of the season Nigeria foward Osimhen was also the victim of a brutal foul from Tomas Rincon, who was sent off in the 38th minute for chopping the 24-year-old down as he charged towards goal.

7. Tasks before new NDDC board, by Abuja Ijaw community
The Ijaw Community (Abuja/Northern Nigeria) has urged the newly inaugurated board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to hit the ground running with the task of taking succor to all parts of the oil-rich Niger Delta region.
In a statement by the Chairman and Secretary of the Community, Alagba Ebifemowei and Ennia George, the body also hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for selecting respectable sons and daughters of the region to revive the mandate of the Commission.
The group, which congratulated the new Board, tasked the leadership to think up new ideas that will make life easier for the people of the region, taking development to the deep parts, especially the labyrinth of creeks and remote villages, where the people have over the years yearn to feel the touch of governance and reap the good fruits of the resources taken from their lands.
8. Gunmen attack presidential campaign office in Osun
Gunmen on Sunday attacked the Tinubu/Shettima campaign office in Osun State.
It happened a few hours after former governor Adegboyega Oyetola inspected the office in Ilesha.
The hoodlums stormed the office around 9:30am with guns, cutlasses, charms and other dangerous weapons.
The billboard in front of the office was damaged; the doors and glass windows were shattered.

9. One suspected kidnapper of Edo train attack nabbed
The Edo State Commissioner for Communications and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, has disclosed that the security operatives have arrested one of the suspected kidnappers involved in kidnapping 32 passengers at the Igueben train station.
Nehikhare made this known during a briefing to journalists in Benin City at the Weekend.
The commissioner added that one victim escaped the kidnapper’s den.
He pledged support for security operatives to avert the recurrence of such incidents in the state.
10. NPFL: Bendel Insurance outclass Akwa United in season opener
Bendel Insurance put up an impressive display as they defeated Akwa United 2-0 in the opening fixture of the 2022/23 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
