1. Nsukka youths go spiritual over untimely deaths

The Nsukka Youths Association in the Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State has prayed for God’s intervention to stop incessant untimely deaths among youths in the area.

Preaching during the prayer session, organised by NYA on Sunday at NsukkaTown Hall, Rev. Fr. Paul Obayi, the Spiritual Director of Okunerere Adoration Ministry, Nsukka, said that most untimely deaths were a result of youths abandoning God and living careless life.

He said that most youths were now more interested in making quick money and other earthly things rather than surrendering their entire life to God, who has the power to protect them.

2. Oye-led APGA convenes NEC meeting, dismisses Njoku’s faction

The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Victor Oye, has reportedly held a National Executive Committee meeting in Awka, the Anambra State capital, in defiance of the Federal High Court order that barred him from doing so.

The Federal Capital Territory High Court 40 sitting in Bwari, Abuja, had ordered Oye to stop parading himself as the National Chairman of the party.

The court also restrained him from holding any gatherings, meetings, congresses or convention in the name of APGA NEC or NWC, declaring such congress and convention as null and void

3. Police foil terrorist attack on Sokoto community

The Sokoto State Police Command on Sunday repelled a suspected terrorist attack on residents of Giremshi, a community within the Sokoto metropolis.

Mallam Haruna, a resident of the area who spoke with our correspondent, confirmed that the shootout between the suspected terrorist and the security agencies lasted for over two hours.

He said, “It was the exchange of gunshots between those people and the Nigerian police that woke most of the residents up in our area today.

4. 160 women claiming to be Nigerians in Sudan have no passports to fly back – FG

The Federal Government says 160 women claiming to be Nigerians in Sudan have no passports to fly back to the country.

The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Ahmed stated this in Abuja on Sunday while briefing the press on the progress made so far in the evacuation of Nigerians from war-torn Sudan.

According to him, although the women claimed to be Nigerians, they do not possess Nigerian passports to verify their claims.

He said the agency is being careful not to evacuate persons who are not Nigerians.

5. Barcelona crowned La Liga champions for first time since 2019

Barcelona have won the Spanish La Liga title for the first time since 2019 after thrashing Espanyol 4-2 on Sunday.

The Catalan giants clinched their 27th Spanish championship with an emphatic derby victory, with Robert Lewandowski scoring twice, alongside Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde’s goals.

6. Tearful Pogba injured again in first start for over a year

Paul Pogba’s first competitive start in over a year ended in tears on Sunday after yet another injury forced him out of Juventus’ Serie A clash with Cremonese.

France midfielder Pogba, 30, was substituted 23 minutes into Sunday’s match in Turin and left the field with his jersey covering his face to hide his dismay as the home fans gave him a warm but worried applause.

He had pulled up in agony after putting in a routine cross before sinking to the turf and getting on-pitch treatment on his left thigh.
