1. Again, APC postpones Tinubu, Osinbajo, others’ presidential screening

The screening exercise for the 25 presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress earlier scheduled to hold on Monday has been postponed again.

This is the second time that the National Working Committee of the party will be shifting the date of the presidential screening after it failed to hold last weekend.

The development was confirmed in a statement by APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Sunday night.

The statement said, “A new date for the exercise will be announced shortly. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.”

2. 2023: Falana, Utomi, Jega, others adopt Labour Party as Third Force

The National Consultative Front on Sunday said it has adopted the Labour Party as the mega party for ‘third Force’ Stakeholders and Allies for next year’s elections.

The NCFront is the umbrella body of the Third Force Movement and Political Alternatives to the All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party.

The adoption came after 15 months of engagements which led to a reunion between the leadership of the Labour Movement and the hierarchy of the Labour Party; jointly led by President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba and the President of the Trade Union Congress, Quadri Olaleye.

3. Adamawa PDP elects 25 state assembly candidates, returns incumbents

The Peoples Democratic Party has conducted its state House of Assembly primary, returning all incumbent lawmakers seeking re-election.

The nomination exercise was conducted in all the 25 state assembly constituencies on Sunday.

A list of successful candidates was obtained by our correspondent on Sunday.

The list showed that 10 out of 12 incumbent PDP lawmakers seeking re-election were renominated to contest the state constituencies’ elections come 2023.

4. RCCG members protest Deborah Samuel’s death with mouths sealed with sellotape

A mild drama ensued in Abuja as the members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, staged a protest over the gruesome murder of Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, following allegations of blasphemy against her.

The demonstration against religious killings in the country took place after the Sunday service at the Central Parish, Wuse, Abuja and was led by the regional pastor of the parish who refused to give his name to journalists.

The protest, which was peaceful, had the mouths of the RCCG church members sealed with cello-tape to theatrically drive home the point.

The protesters bore placards with written inscriptions such as ‘Stop the killing’, ‘God is watching’, ‘No killings in the name of religion’, ‘Don’t defend the indefensible‘ and ‘let’s live together in peace’

5. Land dispute stallls completion of 330 transmission line in Kaduna

The Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria ( TCN), Engr. Suleiman Ahmed Abdulaziz has said that the 330 transmission line project in Kaduna is about 80% completed and the contractor has assured that it would be finished before the end of this year.

He, however, observed that the project was been stalled due to issues arising from some land owners who had refused to collect compensation and vacate  their land for the smooth completion of the project.

While fielding questions from journalists in Kaduna, Engr. Suleiman  said they would meet with the Kaduna State Government and find ways of resolving the  land issue.

According to him,  “we are here right away at Kudenden power station. This power station is generating  215 mega Watts and we have to evacuate this power to Mando 330 Kv sub station in Kaduna. “

6. Progress beats Zadok, wins Nigerian Idol season

Progress has emerged winner of Nigerian Idol Season 7.

He was announced as winner of the edition on Sunday.

Zadok and Progress were the two contestants in the finale of the show .

As the winner, he will walk away with 30 million naira, a brand new SUV, a recording deal and other exciting prices.

The show started with top 12 contestants who emerged from the preliminary stage.

7. Gunmen kill mother, four children, two others in Anambra

Gunmen on Sunday killed no fewer than seven persons in different parts of Anambra State.

Among them was a mother and four of her children at Isulo, Orumba North local government area

The other two took place at Abatete in Idemili North local government area while another man was killed at Nanka Orumba North local government area.

Eyewitnesses told The Nation the gunmen invaded those areas and opened fire on the victims and left.

8. Ondo minority leader loses at PDP primary

Minority Leader of Ondo House of Assembly, Rasheed Elegbeleye, has lost out at the primary of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

Elegbeleye, who refused all entreaties to defect to the All Progressives Congress(APC) lost the ticket to Akintola Olarenwaju by polling 18 votes.

Olarenwaju got 22 votes in the election held in Ikare-Akoko.

9. 2023: Fayose’s son, Olayinka, others win PDP House of Reps tickets in Ekiti

Former Governorship aspirants in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State, Otunba Yinka Akerele has emerged as the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Ekiti North Federal Constituency.

Akerele emerged unopposed.

Joju, son of former Governor Ayo Fayose won the ticket for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1, comprising Ado and Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government.

He polled 69 votes as against nine votes by his opponent, Deji Adeosun

10. 2023: Results of Kwara PDP primaries for HoR, state assembly primaries emerge

Results of the Kwara State Peoples Democratic party, PDP’s primary elections held on Sunday for aspirants seeking elective positions into the House of Representatives and the state Assembly, have started to trickle in.

DAILY POST reports that for Asa/Ilorin West, Ibrahim Ajia, emerged winner with 82 votes to beat two other contestants, S.S.Warah and Oba Aluko, who scored five and one votes respectively for the House of Representatives seat, in the Kwara Central Senatorial District.

A former member of the House of Representatives, Wahab Issa, again, got another shot for the Ilorin East/South House of Representatives seat, with 36 votes beating Yusuf Saka Eletu and Raheem Jimoh Agboola, who scored 32 and three votes respectively
