1. NAF destroys bandit camps in Kaduna

The Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch has destroyed about 10 camps and neutralised several bandits during air interdiction missions in three local government areas of Kaduna State.

A statement issued on Sunday in Kaduna by the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the operations were conducted within a week.

He said the hideout of a bandit, Alhaji Ganai, was struck and destroyed South of Kidandan in Giwa Local Government Area.

“The bandit and several others were neutralised in the strike,” Aruwan said.

2. Muslim-Muslim ticket: APC, Tinubu group hail CAN

A pro-Bola Tinubu political support group under the aegis of City Boy Progressive Group has applauded the Christian Association of Nigeria for reconsidering its decision not to accommodate him over the controversial Muslim-Muslim ticket.

This is even as the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress disclosed that the apex Christian body showed maturity by making a U-turn over its earlier stance.

The development is coming five days after the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, met with the leadership of CAN.

At the political roundtable, the former Lagos State governor had reassured the apex religious body that he will not run his administration on the basis of religion if elected as president.

3. No underage person will vote in 2023 – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission has insisted that citizens who have yet to attain the legal voting age will not be allowed to participate in the 2023 elections.

The Director of Voter Education and Publicity, INEC, Victor Aluko, said this when he appeared on Channels Television on Sunday.

“I assure you that the register will be cleaned up completely and no underage voter will vote in 2023. After we finish with the claims and objections on Friday, we will be taking in again for further claims based on the complaints of the people,” he said.

“That is why it is important that persons who noticed any issue at all with the register should complain through the right channels where they can be documented,” Aluko said.

4. Gunmen kidnap Kwara cleric, son, sibling, demand N100m ransom

Gunmen again struck at Oko- Olowo, a surburb of Ilorin, Kwara State in the early hours of Saturday and kidnapped three persons.

Meantime, relations of the victims are already begging the Kwara state government to intervene in all manners possible, the safe rescue of their family members in kidnappers den.

The fresh victims are a young cleric, Alfa Sofiu Amolegbe, his son, Aliyu and his sibling, Fansasi.

The trio were abducted at their private residence in Oko- Olowo along Ilorin- Jebba expressway in Moro Local Government area of Kwara state.

5. BRT Murder: Late Bamise’ll get justice, Lagos govt assures family

Lagos State government has assured the family of the late Oluwabamishe Ayanwole, who was allegedly raped and murdered by a Bus Rapid Transport, BRT driver, Andrew Ominikoron, that justice will be served in the matter.

A statement issued by the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mrs. T. K. Shitta-bey, ahead of Bamishe’s first post-humous birthday, said that the Lagos State government would not relent in its effort to ensure that justice is speedily served in the case.

The statement reads: “As we approach the first post-humous birthday of Oluwabamishe Ayanwole, the Lagos State Government again empathizes with the family on the incident that led to the untimely death of their loved one.

6. Kwankwaso woos Afenifere

The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has uneveiled his agenda to the leadership of the socio-political group, New Afenifere, in Lagos, seeking its support ahead of the 2023 presidential election scheduled to hold in February.

Kwankwaso sought the support when he met the leadership at a strategic meeting on Sunday at Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

Recall that Afenifere was formed as a socio-cultural organization for the Yoruba people of Nigeria, with Chief Abraham Adesanya as its pioneer leader and Chief Bola Ige as deputy leader.
