1. Osun: Adeleke makes first appointments 

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has made his first appointments after his inauguration as governor on Sunday.

Adeleke appointed Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye as his Chief of Staff.

The governor also announced the appointment of ex-chairman, Osogbo Local Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, as the Secretary to the State Government

2. Nigeria’s security system must be decentralised – Akeredolu 

The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has reiterated that the security system of the country must not be in total control of the federal government, saying that the security architecture must be decentralised.

The governor also emphasised the need for state police, adding that the stand of his administration was that a police command in Abuja could not serve the 36 states of the federation of over 200 million people.

Akeredolu stated this in his office while receiving participants of the Senior Course 45 programme of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State, who were on study tour of the state.

3. Lagos generating highest revenue from cooperatives — CFN 

The president, the Cooperative Federation of Nigeria, Ayeola Oriyomi, has said that the cooperative sector provides the highest Gross Domestic Product to the Lagos State revenue.

He revealed this on Friday at the Medicals (Lagos Island) Cooperative Society inauguration of passenger boat services.

He said, “I commend LASCOMED for this initiative. The passenger boat service is a value-added service provided by the cooperative for the betterment of not only their members but also the people of Lagos State.

4. Pantami harps on digital govt, society 

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, weekend emphasized the need for digital transformation in the governance, society and economy to improve the lives of Nigerians.

Pantami re-echoed his stands on digital economy at the third edition of CIO Awards in Lagos.

Speaking on the occasion, Pantami, who was represented by the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, Aliyu Aziz, said:  “This award ceremony is truly a testimony that the contribution of those who have greatly shaped the industry, disrupted the ecosystem, and immensely added to the economy with their creative ideas and the solutions will not go unnoticed.

5. With Amotekun’s success, Nigeria must decentralise security architecture — Akeredolu 

CHAIRMAN of the South West Governors Forum, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, weekend, said that the success of the security outfit, codenamed, Amotekun, in the region, shows that Nigeria’s security architecture must be decentralised.

Governor Akeredolu noted that the country’s security architecture decentralization “is for effective security of lives and properties in Nigeria.”

The governor said this while receiving participants of the Senior Course 45 programme of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State, on a study tour of the state.

The 46-man team was led by the Faculty Leader, Commodore Promise Dappa.

6. Protests loom as E-hailing drivers lament increase in pump price

E-hailing Drivers and Partners Association, PEDPA, on Sunday, said the increase in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), across the country may trigger peaceful protests if it continues unabated.

PEDPA National President. Idris Oluwaseun, in a statement made available to Vanguard, said the price increase of N250/litre is taken its toll on E-hailing business with the resultant effects on the masses.

He called on the Federal Government, Petroleum Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPRA), and labour unions to stem the tide.

“The charges paid by drivers are yet to reduce and this puts them into long days of sufferings, queueing for long hours and buying the product at expensive prices.
