1. Shittu, Keyamo hail Bello’s appointment as youth coordinator
Former Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, the Spokesman for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, and a number of party supporters, Sunday, congratulated the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, on his appointment as the National Youth Coordinator of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.
The appointment, which was conveyed in a letter addressed to Bello, carried the signature of the presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
According to the national leader of the APC, the governor has distinguished himself as a worthy ambassador of the ruling party due to his impressive political achievements and exemplary leadership.
Tinubu also expressed strong conviction that Bello would conduct an effective, message-driven campaign that could lead them to victory in the 2023 presidential election.
The letter partly read, “By way of this letter, we are pleased to formally convey your appointment as the National Youth Coordinator of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.
2. Igbo behind insecurity in Anambra – Soludo
The Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has explained why insecurity and kidnapping are rife in the state, saying the economic situation of Anambra among South-East states made it a target of criminals.
He said that with the spate of insecurity in the state, his administration has put in place numerous measures to end the menace.
Soludo who stated this on Sunday during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, maintained that those perpetrating criminalities in the state are Igbo.
The former Central Bank of Nigeria governor also stated that contrary to claims, those perpetrating criminalities are known and not unknown as being reported in the media.
“They are plain criminals. Some of these criminals also hide under the cloak of agitation but IPOB has repeatedly distanced itself from the criminals.
3. 19 dead in Abuja road crash – FRSC
The acting Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Dauda Biu, has again cautioned road users to avoid excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking.
He also advised commuters to avoid night trips due to the hazards associated with dark hours.
The warning came following the unfortunate fatal crash that claimed 19 lives and injured eight persons in the early hours of Sunday along the Gwagwalada-Lokoja Highway, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
In a statement signed by the Corps Spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, Sunday, the accident which involved two Toyota Hiace Buses with registration numbers MUB-30 LG, DWR-985XJ, and a Citroen trailer, had a total of 31 people comprising 11 males, one female, and 19 others, whose gender could not be ascertained due to the fire intensity.
Out of the 31 victims, eight people comprising seven males and one female sustained various degrees of injuries, while 19 others were burnt beyond recognition.

4. Oshiomhole should be ashamed of himself, APC, says Labour Party
The Labour Party has said former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole should be ashamed of himself for attempting to use insecurity to measure the performance of Peter Obi, while in office as Anambra State Governor years ago.
National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Comrade Arabambi Abayomi, said this in response to claims by Oshiomhole that Obi was incapable of solving Nigeria’s insecurity because he failed to tackle insecurity in Anambra State while he served as Governor.
In a telephone interview with Vanguard on Sunday, Arabambi said, “I’m aware that Oshimohole was governor of Edo State, for two terms.
5. Osinbajo signs condolence register for Queen Elizabeth II
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Sunday, at the Lancaster House, London, signed the condolence register for Queen Elizabeth II.
Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity Office of the Vice President, disclosed this in a statement.
The vice president, in his message described the late Queen Elizabeth II as a monarch for all seasons who brought people together from all over the world.
“Nigeria joins the government and people of the UK, the Commonwealth and rest of the world in expressing our sincere condolence to the royal family on the passing of a monarch for all seasons.
6. How Nigeria’s challenges can be overcome – Rev Aderemi
A cleric, Rev. Favour Aderemi, has assured Nigerians that the challenges currently facing the nation will be a thing of the past, if they can allow God to have His way.
Aderemi, the District Overseer, Ayepe District of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, gave the assurance on Sunday at the Seventh Convocation/Upgrading of Ilesa District of the church.
Recall that the cleric spoke on the theme: “God of Perfection,” with the text taken from Mathew 5 verse 48.

7. Scores killed as military bombs Zamfara bandits’ base
Scores of armed bandits were reportedly killed yesterday as the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) bombed their base in Zamfara.
The victims were said to be members of the deadly banditry lynchpin, Muhammad Bello, aka Turji.
The kingpin, it was learnt, narrowly escaped the bombardment which left many others injured.
The attack which was carried out at Fakai area where Turji was suspected to be residing was said to have been carried out by two NAF fighter jets, following a reliable intelligence.
The notorious North-west Nigerian banditry kingpin, was reported to have relocated his headquarters from Fakai in Zurmi, Zamfara State, to the east of Isa local government area of Sokoto State last year.
8. Fed Govt laments poor reading habit
The Federal Government through the National Library of Nigeria (NLN) has commenced the 2022 nationwide readership promotion campaign to address the challenge of poor reading culture in Nigeria.
The government lamented the poor reading culture amongst Nigerians, saying it was at a frozen point.
National Librarian and Chief Executive Officer of the NLN, Prof Chinwe Anunobi, insisted that Nigeria must put reading at the top of her priority list in the quest towards attainment of the all- inclusive sustainable development hinging on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals to be achieved and sustained particularly SDG4, which is centred on education.
Prof Anunobi spoke at the official flag-off of the 2022 Readership Promotion Campaign with the theme: “Reading as a Panacea for Societal Problems.”

9. BREAKING: Explosion rocks Taraba
A loud explosion was again heard in the ATC area of Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State Sunday night.
The state police command through its Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Usman Abdullahi, has confirmed the explosion.
Though the police could not give detailed reports of the explosion, the PPRO, however, promised to get back to our correspondent as soon as further information was made available to the command by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area.
Some persons from the area who also confirmed the explosion to our correspondent, said the incident occurred at a drinking joint.
At the time of filing this report, our source could not ascertain whether there were casualties, as everyone around was said to have taken to their heels.
10. ASUU strike: We’ll join students to ground airports – South West youths
Youths in the south west region of the country have revealed that they will be supporting students across the country to press home their demands over the lingering strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
The youths under the aegis of Oodua Youth Coalition, OYC, on Sunday threw its weight behind the resolution of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, to halt activities in airports across the country.
The leadership of NANS had on Saturday in Akure, Ondo State capital resolved to disrupt the airspace from Monday, September 19, 2022.
In a statement issued by the president of the group, Oluyi Tayo, which was made available to DAILY POST, he stated that the seven months old strike had affected over 5,000 members of the group.
