1. Hold us responsible if we fail – Baba-Ahmed
The vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has told Nigerians to hold the Labour Party responsible if it fails to turn Nigeria’s economy from a consumption to a productive, technologically driven economy if given the mandate to lead the affairs of the country.
Baba-Ahmed disclosed this at a press conference held on Friday, in Abuja
The vice presidential candidate also stated that Nigerians should hold the LP responsible if it fails to transform the arable lands in Nigeria, especially in the north, into the “new oil”, and to build the required human capital and skill.
The former lawmaker noted that the same people who campaigned in 2015, though now in different camps, have renewed the same promises which none has been fulfilled, adding that even the simplest one, in terms of provision of bursaries for students, promised in 2015, and repeated in 2019 are yet to be achieved.
2. Don’t take El-Rufai’s ‘desperation’ for granted, SOKAPU warns
The Southern Kaduna People’s Union on Friday, said the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, should be investigated following his opposition to the Federal Government’s directive that the old naira notes of N1000 and N500 have ceased to be legal tender effective February 17.
The PUNCH reports that while addressing the nation, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), said the old N500 and N1,000 banknotes were no longer legal tender in the country. He, however, said the old N200 note would be legal tender for the next 60 days, till April 10, 2023, while urging Nigerians to deposit their old N500 and 1000 notes with the CBN.
However, in complete disregard to the President’s directives on the N500, N1000 naira notes to be deposited in the various branches of the Central Bank of Nigeria across the country, El-Rufai mandated residents of the state to continue the use of the old naira notes, pending the determination of the matter which is before the Supreme Court.
The governor gave the directives in a state-wide broadcast on Thursday night.

The number one bestselling author and former aide to ex president Goodluck Jonathan, Pastor Reno Omokri has said that the statement made by the Kaduna state governor, Nasir Elrufai that Tinubu will validate all invalidated old Naira notes speaks volume of the kind of government that Tinubu will lead.
He said it shows that the government of Tinubu will be like a puppet, being controlled by powered outside the government.

6. National Broadcast: Buhari was wrongly advised — Keyamo
Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Minister of State for Labour, Festus Keyamo has said that President Muhammadu Buhari was wrongly advised by insisting on the ban of the N500 and N1000 notes despite an ex parte order by the Supreme Court.
The President had during a national broadcast on Thursday approved the re-circulation of just the old N200 notes until April 10 and this has generated mixed feelings with a majority of legal experts opining that Buhari overided the Supreme Court with the decision.
Keyamo said although the President has the best of intentions for Nigeria and Nigerians, he may have been ill-advised.
He further said that Buhari’s speech acknowledged that there were certain matters in court and that the President believed he was playing safe by intervening to curtail the growing tension across the country.
