1. Oil tycoon, Jack-Rich, declares for Presidency, submits N100m APC form
Oil magnate, Tein Jack-Rich, on Friday, declared his intention to run for President on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
This came moments after Jack-Rich submitted his N100m Presidential forms to the APC.
He also appointed a former Governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda, as the chairman of his campaign organisation.
At 47, Jack-Rich is one of the youngest aspirants in the APC after Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and Nicholas Felix.
2. Ayade submits APC presidential nomination form
Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, has submitted his presidential nomination and expression of intention forms at the All Progressives Congress national secretariat in Abuja.
According to the Special Adviser Media and Publicity to Ayade, Christian Ita, the submission which took place at the office of the National Organising Secretary of the party, was done on behalf of Ayade by the Cross River State chairman of the APC, Alphonsus Eba.
Eba was said to have eulogised the governor for his achievements in the last seven years, declaring that Nigeria needs an Ayade to fix the country.
“With near zero allocation, Ayade has been able to do magic in the state. We can boast of over 32 factories, a network of roads and world-class infrastructure strategically situated across the state. These great achievements and more will be replicated in Nigeria if Ayade becomes President,” he said.
3. Fire guts petrol-laden tanker in Delta
A petroleum-laden tanker was on Friday gutted by fire at the Agbarho community section of the East-West road in Delta State.
The PUNCH gathered that the incident happened when the tanker veered off the road and fell.
It was gathered that the tanker immediately caught fire.
Sources said that travellers along the highway had a hectic time they were stranded for several hours following restrictions on vehicular movement on the road.

4. ASUU strike has worsened drug abuse – Obaseki
Edo’s Gov. Godwin Obaseki on Friday in Benin blamed increasing rate of drug abuse in the state on the lingering Academic Staff Union of Universities’ (ASUU) strike.
Reviewing the state’s security situation for the months of February, March and April, Gov. Obaseki said Edo recorded 19 drug abuse cases in February, 34 cases in March and 23 cases in April.
“Drug abuse is now number two issue of concern in our state.
“Our analysis shows that there is high rate of consumption of drugs in the last few months.
5. Ganduje pays Shekarau surprise visit as plans to dump APC heightens
The Kano state governor Abdullahi Ganduje has paid a surprise visit to the residence of Senator Ibrahim Shakarau whose plans to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).
The NNPP is led by the Kwankwasiyya supporters under the leadership of Sen Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who took over the party recently.
Shekarau is said to be dumping the APC for the NNPP to be able contest for his senatorial seat in the coming election, a situation that might not be possible under the APC after having a parallel contest as one of the members of the G7 in the party.
Sources from Shekarau camp say all arrangements for his joining the NNPP have been concluded and it is rumored that he is going to announce his intention to join the NNPP Saturday morning.
6. Police nab 2 suspects over alleged firearm trafficking in Plateau
The Police command in Plateau says it has arrested two suspects over alleged trafficking of firearms from Plateau to the eastern part of the country through Nasarawa State.
The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said this during news briefing on Friday, in Abuja.
Adejobi said the suspects were arrested, following credible intelligence gathered by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) on the trafficking of Plateau, through Nasarawa to the East.
According to him, upon receipt of the intelligences, operatives of the IRT swung into action that led to the apprehension of the suspects in April.

7. Concerns as police take Dagogo to court on stretcher
There were concerns about the health of detained House of Representative member, Farah Dagogo on Friday when the police brought him to court on a stretcher.
About four policemen were seen lifting the lawmaker, who looked weak on a stretcher, to the State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt.
Despite the order from the Federal High Court that Dagogo should be released on bail, it was gathered the Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, decided to rather produce him at the state High Court.
The Court remanded the lawmaker representing Degema Bonny Federal Constituency in Port Harcourt correctional centre
Trial judge, Justice Chiwendu Nworgu, said he should be remanded following his inability to take his plea and adjourned the matter to May 16.
Journalists were barred from covering the proceedings in the court.
The prosecuting lawyer, Chidi Eke, said Dagogo lay down all through the proceeding and was unable to speak
8. EFCC arrests 23 suspected internet fraudsters in Ibadan
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan Zonal Office has arrested 23 suspected internet fraudsters in Ibadan.
This is contained in a statement signed by the commission’s spokesperson, Mr Wilson Uwujaren and made available to newsmen on Friday in Ibadan.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the EFCC had arrested no fewer than 200 internet fraudsters in the zone within the last 12 months.

9. Kaduna Councilors’ Forum disowns lawmaker arrested with AK-47
The Kaduna State Councilors Forum, on Friday, disowned their colleague, who was nabbed with AK-47 rifle in Soba Local Government Area of the state.
They described his arrest as timely, and an answer to prayers offered daily to God to expose those behind banditry and criminal activities in Kaduna State.
DAILY POST reports that the Kaduna State Police Command had on Thursday arrested Abdulraman Adamu, in Soba Local Government Area, for alleged gun-running.
The police said he was caught while delivering an AK-47 rifle with six rounds to armed bandits.
10. Police recruitment: NPF announces date for medical screening
The Nigeria Police Force on Friday said it has scheduled May 17 – 31, 2022, for medical screening for all candidates who took part in the recent Computer-Based Test (CBT) in the ongoing recruitment exercise.
CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, in a statement on Friday, informed prospective applicants that medical screening is scheduled to hold between 17th May, 2022 and 31st May, 2022 at designated centres in the seventeen Police Zonal Commands.
It also advised all candidates who took part in the recruitment screening examination to check their application status and print out their medical screening slip, if qualified, for the next stage of the recruitment screening exercise.
It advised applicants to appear at the various screening venues in their clean white T-shirts and shorts with the following mandatory basic requirements
