1. Senator Folarin defeats Adelabu, others to win Oyo APC gov ticket
Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial district, Teslim Folarin, has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress governorship primary in Oyo State.
Folarin defeated the 2019 candidate of the party, Adebayo Adelabu; Akeem Agbaje, Azeez Adeduntan, and Hakeem Alao to pick the party’s ticket.
He scored 954 votes to defeat five other aspirants who contested the election held, on Friday, at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Adelabu, who was his closest challenger, got 327 votes despite being absent at the venue of the election.
2. Nigeria not difficult to manage, Obasanjo tells Hayatu-deen
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said he believes Mohammed Hayatu-deen, one of the presidential aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, has the knowledge to manage Nigeria’s complexities and turn the country around for better.
Speaking when the aspirant and his team visited him at his hilltop mansion in Ota, Ogun State, recently, Obasanjo stated that contrary to some people’s claims, Nigeria was not a difficult country to manage if the right things were done.

3. My life, family under threat, Smart Adeyemi cries out
The Senator representing Kogi West district, Smart Adeyemi, has raised an alarm over the threat to his life and that of his family members.
Smart, who is a senatorial flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress, made this known in a statement personally signed by him on Friday where he claimed to have been warned against contesting for the seat of the Kogi West senatorial district in the forthcoming election.
The lawmaker who stated that he had since informed the relevant agencies of the development, however, did not disclose the identities of those who issued the threat.
According to him, those to be held responsible should any harm comes to him or any of his family members have already and properly been documented with the appropriate security agencies.

4. DELTA APC PRIMARIES: Uboh return unopposed in Ika Fed Constituency
FORMER member of the Federal House of Representatives, Mrs Doris Uboh, Friday, picked the All Progressives Congress, APC ticket for the Ika Federal Constituency unopposed.
Also returned unopposed, is former Delta State Governorship aspirant, Chief Johnson Opone to fly the APC flag in the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency.
While Dr Tony Nwaka emerged candidate of the party in the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal constituency after polling 130 votes to beat his opponent, Barr Dennis Nwanokwai who scored 71 votes at an election conducted at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba.
5. 2023: Buhari reiterates commitment to fair, peaceful elections
AHEAD of the 2023 general elections, President Muhammadu Buhari has for the umpteenth time, reiterated his determination to ensure peaceful and fair elections.
The President also expressed his commitment to seeing candidates with integrity prevail in next year’s general elections.
President Buhari gave the assurance on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, when he received in audience Senator Basheer Lado, an All Progressives Congress, APC, aspirant for the Kano Central Senatorial seat.
Lado’s meeting with the President came a day before the senatorial primary elections of the APC scheduled for Friday, May 27, 2022.
6. APC Primary: I ran for my life to avoid stray bullet — House of Reps member
The House of Representatives member representing Akure South/ Akure North Federal constituency, Ondo state and Aspirant in the APC primary, Mayiwa Lawson Alade has narrated how he escaped being killed during the Party’s primary election.
Lawson has therefore asked the party to declare null and void the primary election held in Akure, the state capital to pick the party’s candidate was inconclusive.
He told newsmen late last night that the process was disrupted by political thugs when he was already winning the primary election.
According to him “It was a sad day in Akure election, every youth in Ondo State, most especially, Akure North/South federal constituency are not really happy as hoodlums came in while they were sorting election ballot and we were coasting to victory and all of a sudden, everything just went south.

7. Police bust ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ training center in Bauchi, arrest five
Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested five cybercrime ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ Suspects undergoing training in Bauchi.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, stated that its successful operation led to the arrest of one Emmanuel Saleh nicknamed Wizblaq (22 yrs old ‘m’) of Rafin-Zurfi, Bauchi, an alleged owner of the academy center and four others.
According to Wakil, the operatives of the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB), Bauchi Command acted on a verified intelligence on May 20, 2022, when it burst into an apartment located at Kirfi Road, GRA, Bauchi, where the training center was established for the training of youths who want to venture into internet crime.
8. Police kill bandit, nab six others, recover 210 rustled cows in Kaduna
The Kaduna State Police Command said on Friday that its men neutralised one bandit and arrested six suspects at Unguwan Haske Village of Kauru Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Muhammed Jalige, he said the police also recovered 130 cattle and 80 sheep from the suspected criminals.
According to Jalige, “The Kaduna Police Command has on 23rd May, 2022 acted on reliable information that some suspected cattle rustlers were sighted when they entered Unguwan Haske Village of Kauru LGA and made suspicious purchases of airtime as well as some consumables at about 2210hrs.

9. BREAKING: APC moves presidential primary election to June 6
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its presidential primaries to June 6th and 7th.
This decision comes only a few hours before the original date of the exercise, which was earlier slated for Sunday, May 29.
APC’s announcement comes after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) accepted appeals by political parties to extend the dates for the conduct of primary elections.
INEC in a statement on Friday, extended the dates for primaries by six days.
Earlier, political parties had requested for 37 to 60 days extension of the timeline for primaries and the nomination of candidates but the commission refused the plea.
10. Adesida wins APC Akure South/Akure North reps ticket, as gunshots rock primary
Prince Aderin Adesida, has emerged the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Akure South/North federal seat at the party’s primary held in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.
Thugs suspected to be supporters of one of the candidates rushed the hall where the primary was being held and disrupted the process, making the election chaotic.
Police officers fired intermittent shots to frighten the thugs away.
As police fired shots and teargas into the air and eventually overcame the thugs, journalists and other officials, as well as police officers, raced helter-skelter for their lives.
After nearly an hour, the election was resumed to determine the winner of the primary.
