The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has identified corruption, nepotism and political patronage as some of the vices distracting public officials.
Buhari stated this on Friday at the maiden edition of the Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Gunmen on Friday attacked the convoy of Apostle Johnson Suleman along the Benin Auchi Road, Edo State, and allegedly killed seven persons including three policemen.
The PUNCH gathered that Suleman returned from a foreign trip and was heading to a destination in Edo State when the gunmen attacked his convoy around the Auchi area of the state.
During the attack, the gunmen opened fire on Suleman’s convoy, allegedly killing three of his police orderlies and four yet-to-be-identified persons.
Suleman’s lawyer, Samuel Amune, who confirmed the attack to our correspondent, said the cleric just returned from a program in Tanzania, adding that he escaped death by a whisker.
THE Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki over several demolition of structures across the state capital for purported developmental purposes which the party said are shrouded in secrecy, collapsed infrastructure and allegedly plunging the state into huge indebtedness besides running a dictatorial government.

Spokesperson of the APC 2023 Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo has said the recent discovery of oil theft in Nigeria started during the former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), has denied the two (2) persons arrested by the Nigerian Army purporting to be carrying out enrolment of persons in Niger Republic, erroneously referred to as NIMC officials.
The Commission in a statement signed by its Director General, Engr. Aliyu A. Aziz, on Friday affirmed that the arrested persons are indeed impersonators and fraudsters and not IRS officials.
