1. Ogun PDP candidate wants INEC chairman, Ayu jailed

A Peoples Democratic Party candidate in Ogun State, Solomon Enilolobo, has filed a  committal proceeding against the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakub, for his alleged disobedience to a court order.

Enilolobo also urged the Federal High Court, Abeokuta to jail the national chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu and four others for contempt on the judgement by Justice J.O Abdulmalik.

The candidate said he decided to drag Yakub to court over alleged disobedience to the court judgment delivered by Justice J.O Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abeokuta on September 26, 2022.

He said others including Ayu  were charged along with the INEC boss due to the roles they process which he described as contempt of court

2. How I will end insecurity in South-East- Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday, said that his administration if elected the next president of Nigeria, would end insecurity ravaging the southeastern part of the country.

Atiku who spoke in Owerri, the Imo State capital, during the PDP presidential campaign rally in the state, said his administration would give the Igbo people a sense of belonging.

The former Vice President said that his administration would engage with the Igbo youths, especially on the issue of restructuring and uniting all parts of the country.

According to him, he was the only presidential candidate who had the experience to unify the country and rescue it from bad governance which he said had become the lot of the nation under the watch of the All Progressives Congress.

3. NAF rescues seven kidnapped expatriates in Kaduna

Nigerian Air Force Special squad has rescued seven kidnapped Chinese nationals who were taken hostage by terrorists in the neighbouring states since June, this year.

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed this on Saturday.

This, he said, was according to a report from NAF Special Forces under the 271 NAF detachment conducted the operation in Kampanin Doka and Gwaska areas of Birnin Gwari LGA, and successfully rescued the seven expatriates who have been conveyed to a secure facility.

The Commissioner further said that the rescue operation excited the state governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai who commended the force’s gallantry.

4. 2023: Lagos PDP gov candidate, leaders in closed-door meeting

The Lagos State PDP governorship candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran, on Saturday held a closed-door strategic meeting with party leaders and elders to map out strategies for victory in the 2023 general elections.

Adediran, popularly known as ‘Jandor’ in company with his running mate, Funke Akindele, met with the party’s chieftains in Ikeja to update them on his campaign ward tours in the state.

Speaking during the opening session before going into closed-door, the candidate, who described the meeting as parents-children interaction, apologised to the leaders for delaying such meeting, saying it was long overdue

According to him, it is not rudeness or disrespect to them that the meeting is just holding.

5. Nigeria’s agricultural revolution created over 13m jobs – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari said Nigeria’s agricultural revolution had led to the creation of over 13million direct and indirect jobs in the last seven and half-years.

Malam Garba Shehu, the president’s spokesman, in a statement on Saturday, said Buhari disclosed this in Washington DC, USA, at an interactive session entitled, “A conversation with President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria’’.

The event was co-hosted by the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), the International Republican Institute, the National Endowment for Democracy, and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems.

The Nigerian leader used the occasion to once again advise western nations not to be in a rush to eofliminate the usage of fossil fuels in a bid to ensure a healthy climate.

6. Atiku, PDP insulting our collective intelligence – Tinubu

Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has accused the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party and its Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of playing on Nigerians’ “seeming forgetfulness and insulting our collective intelligence”.

Tinubu in a statement by the Director, Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council PCC, Mr Bayo Onanuga said having consistently shown lack of capacity for introspection, PDP leaders have been going about the country slandering the APC-led government of President Muhammadu Buhari, “believing that as Nigerians we have forgotten their atrocious era and that we are unappreciative ignoramuses”.

He said; “Notably Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the party that once contemplated changing its brand name because of its atrocious record, has been emboldened by our assumed forgetfulness as a nation, mounting podiums and trying to deodorise and beautify the party’s ugly era.

7. Wike hits Atiku’s campaigners linking him to violence in Rivers

Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike, has lambasted some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State campaigning for the party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
The Governor said it was unfortunate for Atiku’s men such as Lee Maeba, Austine Opara and Abiye Sekibo, to link him to political violence.

The Governor, who harped on the need to play decent politics said, in all his political journey, the use of violence had never been part of measures adopted to achieve his political goals.

Wike according to a statement by his Special Assistant, Media, Kelvin Ebiri, spoke when he inaugurated the Okrika Founder’s Park on Saturday in Koniju Ama in Okrika Local Government Area.

8. Wike donates N20m to church, attributes

Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike has donated N20m to the Apostolic Church of Nigeria, Rumuodara, Obio-Akpor, attributing his success of his administration to God.

Wike said the money was his  support to the church to advance its missions and evangelism work.

The Governor reiterated that without God, his administration would not have enjoyed the success already recorded.

The Governor in a statement by his Special Assistant, Media, Kelvin Ebiri, maintained that God was the reason for his success story in governance.

Wike spoke at the solemnisation and holy wedlock between Charles Sam-Sam Jaja and Miss Abigail Linus Ekpe at The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Rumuodara community in Obio-Akpor.
