1. Adeleke assures residents on Osogbo-Ikirun-Kwara boundary road
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has assured residents of the state on the completion of the ongoing Osogbo-Ikirun-Kwara Boundary road.
Adeleke gave the assurance on Saturday, while inspecting the road project, initiated the Rauf Aregbesola administration.
The governor, who told the contractor handling the project to adhere to the specifications, further said, “I am happy that work has resumed on this road which was abandoned for over three years.
“We want the road to be motorable for our people from Osogbo to Ikirun in the first phase which we intend to complete within our first 100 days in office.”
2. Kaduna community begs insurgents to allow election hold
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the people of troubled Birnin-Gwari in Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State said they have started reaching out to various terrorist groups for the successful conduct of the poll in the area.
The Chairman of the Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressive Union, Ishaq Kasai, in a statement on Saturday, said the development became necessary in view of the prevailing security challenges where about 100 communities were sacked while no fewer than 50,000 were internally displaced by terrorists in the LG.
The statement was titled, ‘2023 general elections: only reaching out to terrorist groups will allow successful elections in Birnin-Gwari.’
According to him, reaching out to the various terror groups in the area for a truce will enable the locals in 10 out of the 11 political wards in the area to exercise their franchise to elect their leaders in next week’s elections.
3. Hazy weather can cause broken lips, worsen asthma attack – Epidemiologist
A Public Health Physician and Epidemiologist, Dr. Japhet Olugbogi, has urged Nigerians to adopt preventive measures against the adverse effects of hazy weather being experienced in some parts of the country.
The epidemiologist stated that hazy weather had negative effects on health, warning that it could cause broken lips and worsen the health of those with existing respiratory diseases like asthma.
Olugbogi, who is the Medical Officer of Health, Ifelodun Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, disclosed this during an exclusive interview with PUNCH HealthWise while advising Nigerians to wear face masks to cushion the effects.

7. Atiku holds final rally, promises to deliver
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has held his final campaign rally at his Adamawa home State with a vow to fulfil all his campaign promises if elected.
“We will work by our promises to make sure that we have a secured, peaceful country and a buoyant economy,” Atiku told the crowd of supporters at the Mahmud Ribadu Square in Jimeta.
He said his government would unfailingly implement devolution of powers to the states and local councils and to empower them to provide good governance, among other campaign promises.
8. UPDATED: Appeal Court dismisses ex- Minister’s suit against Tinubu’s candidacy
The Court of Appeal in Abuja has dismissed a suit by a group linked with a former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, seeking the nullification of the nomination of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A three-man panel of the court, in a judgment on February 17, held that the appeal by the Incorporated trustees of Rights for All International (RAI) was incompetent.
The group had jointly filed the suit with Nwajiuba before the Federal High Court in Abuja, which the court, in a judgment on December 15, 2022 dismissed anf outlawed the group.
But on appeal, the group excluded Nwajiuba from the case, a decision the Court of Appeal found to be unlawful.

9. Police arrest robbers with pistols in Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two young men, Famous Ogooluwa aged 23, and Ibrahim Omoniyi aged 27.
Officers of the Elemoro Division apprehended the robbers while escaping with their loot after robbing a victim.
The suspects were arrested after information about an ongoing robbery in Abijo GRA junction of Ibeju-Lekki.
Items recovered include two locally made pistols, one live cartridge, one Tecno Android phone and one ZAT Android phone.
10. Naira scarcity: Don’t allow them – Sanwo-Olu makes strong demands from Lagosians
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday appealed to residents to remain calm and avoid all forms of violence, rioting and arson even in the face of the pains and frustrations due to cash shortage.
Sanwo-Olu stated this while addressing journalists at Lagos House, Marina, on the present situation caused by the Naira redesign policy in the country.
He also urged Lagos residents not to allow unscrupulous people who want to sow seeds of violence with the view of robbing them of the chance to cast their votes in the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
