1. #NigeriaElections2023: Thugs burn ballot boxes, voting materials in Benin

Electorates had to run for their dear lives as thugs stormed the Uwelu polling unit in Benin, Edo State, burning ballot boxes after votes had been cast.

As the voting was progressing, it became clear that many of the voters in the ward voted massively for the Labour Party.

To avert defeat, the thugs stormed the school to carry out the arson while many of the electorates had to run away for fear of being molested.

One of the voters who spoke on condition of anonymity stated that many voted for Peter Obi which must have prompted the hoodlums to take such action.

2. #NigeriaElections2023: EFCC arrests lecturer with N306,700, woman with 18 PVCs

A lecturer with the Sarwuan Tarka University (formerly known as the University of Agriculture), Makurdi, Benue State, Dr Cletus Tyokyaa was on Saturday arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged vote-buying.

He was arrested at the RCM Polling Unit in Daudu, Guma Local Government Area of the state with the sum of N306,700 in various denominations stashed in his car.

The EFCC in a statement on its Facebook handle said luck ran out on Tarka when “he drove to the voting centre which was different from his polling unit and tried to run upon sighting operatives of the Commission.”

Similarly, the commission said arrested a man (name not disclosed) for alleged vote buying with N194,000 at the Gidan Zakka polling unit, Goron Dutse area of Kano Municipal Local Government, Kano State.

3. #NigeriaElections2023: Amuwo-Odofin polling unit where Obi won all votes

The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has won all 25 votes in a polling unit in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, PU 04.

4. Elections: Hoodlums attack INEC collation centre in Ejigbo, Lagos

Hoodlums numbering over 50 have invaded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation centre at Ile-Iwe, Orilowo Ejigbo area of Lagos State.

Sounds of sporadic gunshots rented the air as INEC officials and parties agents fled in different directions.

Report said they came in six motorcycles and four commercial buses.

The presidential and national assembly elections took place today nationwide.

5. NASS Polls: I’m confident of victory this time – Banky W

Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, the singer-cum-politician, says that he is confident of victory in the national assembly elections.

The musician is vying for the post of the House of Representatives, Eti-Osa federal constituency of Lagos state.

Banky is contesting under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking with NAN on Saturday, Banky W expressed satisfaction at the turnout of voters and the conduct of the electoral process.

6. INEC officials refusing to upload results in Lagos, Delta – Labour Party

Labour Party, LP has raised the alarm that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is refusing to upload results of the presidential elections collated in various polling units in Lagos and Delta states to the Central Server.

The National Chairman of the party, Barrister Julius Abure made this claim in statement issued on Saturday.

According to Abure, the officials of the INEC, in connivance with the security agencies, are claiming that the BVAS have suddenly developed fault and therefore cannot function.

The chairman said that information from the party’s field men has it that in places like Agege, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Surulere, and Ibeju Lekki, amongst others where results shows that Labour Party won convincingly, the INEC officials claim that the BVAS suddenly developed fault when it concerns uploading results of the presidential election.

7. Ekiti Deputy Gov delivers polling unit to Tinubu, others

Ekiti Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye has delivered her polling unit to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the Saturday’s general election.

Afuye, also won her unit at Ikere Ekiti for the Senatorial candidate of the party in Ekiti South Hon Yemi Adaramodu and the House of Representatives candidate in Ekiti South Federal Constituency Adeniyi Ojuawo.

According to the results announced by the Presiding officer of the Atiba/Aafin Ward 1, Akamuja Unit 003, at Ikere Ekiti, Tinubu polled 130 votes to defeat the People’s Democratic Party candidate Atiku Abubakar who garnered 52 votes.

The candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi scored six votes.

8. Shettima delivers polling unit for APC

The vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Senator Kashim Shettima has won his polling unit, Shettima Kukawa, polling unit 023, Lawan Bukar, Lamisula Ward, Maiduguri Borno State.

Shettima polled 126 to defeat the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar who polled 22.

Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, has singled out three players for praise after the Gunners Premier League 1-0 win over Leicester City on Saturday.

Wright said the three players Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, are the ‘future’ of Arsenal after Mikel Arteta’s side defeated Leicester at King Power Stadium.

Arsenal defeated Leicester in an away Premier League tie, thanks to Martinelli’s only goal of the match.

“We know what he is capable of,” Wright told Premier League Productions when asked about Martinelli’s performance against Leicester.

10. 2023 election: ICPC arrests 9 persons for vote buying in Osun, Ondo, Borno, Akwa Ibom, Sokoto

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has arrested nine persons for vote buying in Osun, Ondo, Borno, Akwa Ibom and Sokoto States during the Presidential and National Assembly Elections on Saturday.

According to a statement by the Commission’s spokesperson, Mrs Azuka Ogugua on Saturday, four vote buyers were arrested by the Osun State Office of the ICPC, two persons were arrested by the Sokoto State Office while one person each was arrested by the Ondo, Akwa Ibom and Borno Offices of the anti-graft agency.

The four vote buyers arrested in Osun State are Adewale Teslim, 32 years; Yemi Adebiyi, 42 years; Shake Idris, 36 years, and Emiola Joseph Oluwole, 69 years. The suspects, who are in Osun State Office custody, were found with documents containing lists of names, phone numbers and account details of voters during the election in the State.
