1. Tinubu hails ex-Concord editor, Tella, at 75
The President-elect, Asíwájú Bola Tinubu, on Saturday congratulated renowned journalist, administrator and politician, Liad Tella, as he marked his 75th birthday.
An indigene of Osun State, Tella was a one-time editor with the defunct National Concord newspapers and Managing Director of The Monitor.
When he left the realm of journalism, he was appointed as the former National Commissioner of National Hajj Commission. On his return to Osun, he served as chairman of the state broadcasting service as well as the state hajj commission.
He is currently the Chairman of Council, Federal College of Education, Iwo in Osun State.
2. Farmers congratulate Tinubu, ready for ‘agbado’ revolution
Local farmers in the country on Saturday congratulated the President-elect, Asíwájú Bola Tinubu, on his victory at the just concluded presidential election.
They also used the opportunity to express their readiness for the revolution the former Lagos State governor promised farmers in his ‘Renewed Hope’ manifesto.
Tinubu had polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, who polled 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 votes respectively.
Addressing journalists at the town hall in Abuja on Saturday, the Zonal Coordinator (North-West) of Agro Commodities Directorate of the APC presidential campaign council, Bello Abubakar, explained that the President-elect’s focus on agriculture during his campaign was the motivating factor that spurred farmers in their millions to vote massively for him.
3. Election: Igbo communities endorse Jandor
The Council of Eze Ndigbo in Lagos State, on Saturday, endorsed the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, as their preferred candidate in the forthcoming governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
The leadership of the Igbo communities in the state pledged their support to Adediran at an event tagged ‘The Igbo Communities in Lagos official endorsement of Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (aka Jandor), the Ozoigbondu of Lagos state.’
Speaking at the occasion, the Eze NdIgbo, Ikorodu North, David Nwosu, who spoke on behalf of the council at the event in the Oshodi-Isolo area of the state, affirmed the council’s support for Adediran
Nwosu, alongside other Ezes in attendance, raised Adediran’s hands to the cheering crowd of Igbo supporters, saying, “Ezes Ndigbo and Igbo communities in Lagos state endorse Jandor.”

4. Gunmen abduct monarch, wives, son in Taraba
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on abducted two wives and a son of the Chief of Sarkin kudu, in the Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, Dansalama Adamu.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abdullahi Usman, confirmed the incident on occured on Friday night.
Recall that barely three weeks ago, two wives and five children of the chief of Mutum biyu in the Gassol Local Government Area of the state were kidnapped and killed while one of the children escaped.
According to the police, the armed men invaded the traditional ruler’s residence on Friday night in Sarkin Kudu, when he was out of the house.
5. New NASS members to get Certificates of Return next week
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that elected Senators and House of Representatives members will be issued their Certificates of Return at the International Conference Centre (ICC) Abuja on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
The Chairman of the commission, Mahmood Yakubu, made the disclosure in his remarks at the meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in Abuja on Saturday.
Yakubu said that while the Senators-elect will receive their return certificates on Tuesday, their Representatives counterparts will get theirs on Wednesday.
Announcing that supplementary elections will be held in 46 constituencies, the electoral umpire boss said that while the All Progressives Congress (APC) won 57 senatorial seats, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won 29, and the Labour Party got six, New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) got two each, just as All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Young Progressive Party (YPP) got one seat each.
6. Buhari commiserates with Abacha family over death of Abdullahi
President Muhammadu Buhari has extended heartfelt condolences to the former First Lady, Marayam Abacha, and their family on the death of their son, Abdullahi.
The President in a statement by one of his spokesmen, Mallam Garba Shehu said his prayers and thoughts are with the family of Abacha as they grieve the passing of the young Abdullahi.
He prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and comfort for those who mourn.

7. Jack-Rich: Tinubu’s victory well deserved
Achieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Tein Jack-Rich has congratulated the President-elect, Bola Tinubu and Vice President-elect, Sen. Kashim Shettima, for winning last Saturday’s election.
The businessman and philanthropist, in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, said Tinubu’s victory was well deserved.
The candidate of APC was declared winner of the election by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu.
Tinubu polled 8.8 million votes to defeat his closest rivals – Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Obi of LP and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).
8. PDP sweeps NASS seats in Rivers
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won 12 National Assembly seats in Rivers State out of 14 so far concluded and declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP) won one each.
But INEC declared the Khana-Gokana Federal Constituency inconclusive following the margin of lead principle and suspended election in Port Harcourt II.
The official results released by INEC showed that the PDP swept all the three senatorial district elections.

The Labour Party in Rivers State has debunked the news making the rounds on social media that the party has changed its governorship candidate.
The state Chairman of LP, Dienye Pepple, said the stories on social media are misleading, clarifying that Comrade Beatrice Itubo remains the party’s only guber candidate.
According to him, “We are preparing ahead for the Governorship election on the 11th of March.
