1. IG redeploys 86 DCPs, 206 ACPs
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has ordered the posting of 86 Deputy Commissioners of Police and 206 Assistant Commissioners of Police to various zonal commands, state commands and police formations, across the country.
The senior police officers are to deputise other senior Commissioners of Police and other most senior officers in the discharge of critical administrative, investigative, and operational policing duties for an effective and citizen-led policing system nationwide.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi revealed on Saturday in a statement obtained by our correspondent.
2. Lawyer writes King Charles, seeks prerogative of mercy for Ekweremadu
A lawyer, Kayode Ajulo, has written to King Charles III, pleading for a prerogative of mercy for the former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Beatrice, over their conviction by a British court.
Ajulo made the plea in a letter to King Charles III and made it available to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday.
Ike, his wife and doctor, Obinna Obeta were sentenced to nine years, four years and 10 years respectively in prison by an Old Bailey Court for violating British laws on kidney donation and transplant.

3. Why smaller planes evacuated stranded Nigerians in Port Sudan – FG
The Federal Government on Saturday explained that only smaller planes can evacuate stranded Nigerians in Port Sudan for now.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management of Social Development, Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, stated this after receiving the third batch of 131 evacuees from Port Sudan in Abuja.
The Tarco airline plane B737-300 that conveyed the third batch of returnees touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport at 1.45 pm on Saturday.

4. Military refutes allegation of compromise in Southern Kaduna
The Military Special Task Force Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) has dismissed allegations of compromise made against it in the Southern part of Kaduna by the Zangon Kataf Youth Christian Association of Nigeria.
In a statement on Friday, Capt. Oya James, Media Information Officer, OPSH, said the military would not be distracted in it’s quest to protect lives and property in Southern Kaduna.
“Our attention has been drawn to a misleading video report that has gone viral in social media captioned ‘Southern Kaduna community protests killings, accuses the military of compromise’.
5. Coronation: Tinubu says he looks forward to further engagements with Britain
Sen. Bola Tinubu, the President-elect, has congratulated Prince Charles on his coronation as King of England, saying he looks forward to further engagements with the British Government.
He said this in his congratulatory letter as the President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to the crowned King on Saturday in Abuja.
He noted that the splendour of British monarchy and its rich tradition came to the fore again and the world literally came to a standstill as Charles was crowned the new British King, with the appellation of King Charles III.
6. Tinubu’s cabinet: I’m not lobbying to become Chief of Staff — el-Rufai
Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has dispelled the rumours of him jostling to become Chief of Staff in President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.
El-Rufai stated this in Gombe on Saturday while addressing newsmen.
Reports claim that El-Rufai was in the state to inaugurate the construction of 550 housing units and Gombe Geographic Information Systems (GOGIS) Service Centre.
He described the reports on the different portfolios being assigned to him and published in national dailies as “mere speculations”.
