1. Atiku fought Obasanjo as VP, Tinubu claims

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has accused Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party of fighting former President Olusegun Obasanjo when he served as his deputy between 1999 and 2007.

Speaking during the inauguration of the Delta State APC governorship campaign in Warri on Saturday, Tinubu claimed Atiku fought Obasanjo during their tenure.

Tinubu was accompanied to Delta by top bigwigs of the party including the governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and his deputy, Hon. Friday Osanebi.

Tinubu in his address, reminded the people of Delta of the dearth of industries in the state, warning that voting for the ruling PDP in the state again would amount to continuation of 23 years of underdevelopment of Delta State.

2. Abuja CBN lifts 2022 gov trophy

The Central Bank of Nigeria, headquarters, Abuja, on Saturday, defeated their counterpart in Minna by 2-1 to lift the 41st edition of the CBN Cup football competition trophy.

The Calabar branch were not so lucky as they went down 2-1 to Kano branch which emerged third in the competition decided at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The victory saw the Abuja branch lift the trophy for a record sixth time since the competition started in 1981, having won in 1998, 1999, 2001, 2008 and 2009 respectively.

Speaking at the finals of the competition, the CBN governor Godwin Emefiele said the competition, which involved all the branches and head office, kicked off in eight centres in Akure, Ilorin, Abakaliki, Kano, Kaduna, Gombe, Enugu and Makurdi, adding that the preliminaries of this year’s competition were played between August 22 and September 2, 2022 in the eight centres.

3. Anambra poly student commits suicide over failed relationship

A final year student of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has reportedly committed suicide over a failed love affair with his partner.

According to a source who craved anonymity, the young man (in his mid-20s) was in the place of his industrial attachment when the news broke that his partner had jilted him.

The late student was said to be a promising and brilliant young man who was close to making Distinction in the Department of Public Administration.

4. FG has laid down 25-year infrastructure plan for the country – Sambo

The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo, says the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has laid the foundation for a 25-year infrastructure plan for the country.

Sambo said this in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Dr Sam Idiagbonya, on Saturday in Abuja.

He said the infrastructure plan, built on a 25-year railway modernisation programme, essentially features programmes that will ensure that every state capital is linked by rail.

5. UK PM Sunak visits Zelensky, pledges £50m to Ukraine

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visited President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, Ukraine and pledged £50 million in defence aid to the war-torn country.

Their meeting was the first since Sunak became the United Kingdom’s PM as he said he was “deeply humbling” to be in the capital of the country.

“Since the first days of the war, Ukraine and the UK have been the strongest of allies,” Zelensky said.

BBC reports that the defence aid package would be to counter Russian aerial attacks.

6. Northern Nigeria ‘ll fare better under Obi-Datti administration – LP PCC

The Presidential Campaign Council of the Labour Party has expressed confidence that Northern Nigeria which is currently the nation’s poverty capital will enjoy prosperity under an Obi-Datti-led LP administration if voted into power come 2023.

Chief Spokesperson of the Campaign, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, said this when he appeared on a live Radio Programme, on Bright FM, Abuja.

Tanko said the Labour Party, (LP) Candidate, who served for two terms as Governor of Anambra State, was determined and committed to changing the Nigerian story for good.

7. Tinubu to APC: Delta not ATM for migratory politicians

All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has chided the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for failing to develop Delta despite the huge resources accruing to the State.

He spoke at a rally in Warri Township Stadium, which was attended by Senate President Ahmed Lawan, APC Deputy National (South) Emma Enekwu, representing National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, vice presidential candidate Senator Kashim Shettima and his wife, Nana, and Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the presidential candidate and a daughter of Itsekiriland.

Also in attendance were Imo Governor Hope Uzodinnma; his Plateau counterpart and Director- General of the campaigns Simon Lalong; Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, who is Delta State governorship candidate; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Idris Wase; members of the APC National Working Committee(NWC); Ministers, including Youth and Sports, Chief Sunday Dare; Labour and Employment (State) Festus Keyamo (SAN)and former governor of Edo State and Edo North APC senatorial candidate, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

8. Gunmen kill three policemen in Enugu

Gunmen on Saturday attacked some policemen at Agbani, headquarters of Nkanu West Local Government of Enugu, killing three operatives and injuring many others.

The incident, it was learnt, occurred on Saturday morning at a roundabout near the Agbani Divisional Police station.

The police officers were on a stop-and-search duty when the assailants sighted them and immediately opened fire, bringing down the three security operatives.

The gunmen, who operated in a vehicle, were reported to have escaped towards Ugbawka.

9. Hunger: Gbenga Daniel advocates food subsidy for Nigerians

As a way of ameliorating extreme hunger among Nigerians, former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel, has seen the need for the government to subsidize the cost of food.

Daniel said food subsidy is a way to make food available to Nigerians, the majority of whom are suffering from malnutrition.

The former governor promised that he would work towards sponsoring a bill for the actualization of food subsidy when he eventually makes it to the senate.

Daniel, who is the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun East, said this during his ward-to-ward campaign tour.

10. Three rescued from kidnappers’ den in Kwara

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kwara state Command, have rescued three persons from kidnappers’ den in Ilorin, the state capital.

DAILY POST gathered that the victims boarded a Keke Napep at Oja-Oba in Ilorin on November 9,2022 at about 7p.m, heading to Lanre-Gada in Ilorin metropolis.

According to the account of the incident, while the tricycle was in motion, a member of the gang allegedly brought out a gun and threatened to kill them if they raised the alarm.

Instead of heading to Lanre-Gada, the driver of the Keke Napep diverted to another route into a bush where they were tortured.
