1. Buhari, Tinubu, Shettima wives’ campaign team to name spokesperson
The ruling All Progressives Congress has concluded arrangements to name a spokesperson during the inauguration of its Women Presidential Campaign train scheduled to hold at the Presidential Villa on Monday.
The party, through the organising committee of the Tinubu-Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team, said the formal inauguration of its various committee members will also hold same.
A source at the party secretariat said that the inauguration of the 944-member team will signal the official kick-off of the party’s campaign.
The source also said the women’s team will enjoy a degree of autonomy to arrange and organise its own programmes at the national, zonal and state levels.
2. Tinubu’s candidacy illegal, says PDP
The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Debo Ologunagba, said the legality of the sponsorship of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress was voided according to the 2022 Electoral Act.
Ologunagba stressed that the recent court judgment that nullified the candidate of the APC in the recently concluded Osun State governorship election, Adgeboyega Oyetola, could be extended to the candidacy of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
In a press briefing in Abuja, monitored on Facebook Live by our correspondent, on Saturday, Ologunagba claimed that the illegality of the role of the APC Caretaker committee, Mai Mala Buni, who also doubled as both the state governor of Zamfara State, was illegal based on Section 183 of the Electoral Act.
He said, “Mai Mala Bala was assumed to be Chairman of the APC and the laws say that if you are an executive governor you cannot double as Chairman. This has led the court to nullify the candidacy of the Governor of Osun State, Oyetola.
3. Pray for Osun peaceful transition, Adeleke urges clerics
Osun State governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called on religious leaders to intensify prayers for the state to experience peaceful transition next month.
This was contained in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Saturday signed by Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on the occasion of Prophet Muhammed’s birthday anniversary.
Adeleke, who declared that the prayers of clerics and their congregations remained indispensable, said wellbeing of Osun must be put on the front burner.

4. Those calling for Faleke’s removal are plotting downfall of Tinubu, APC – Ogah
The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Comrade Chinedu Ogah, OON, Saturday exclaimed that those calling for the removal of the Secretary of the Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Presidential candidate, Rt. Hon. Abiodun James Faleke were indirectly plotting the downfall of APC and its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general elections.
Ogah who cautioned those behind the plot to desist from such nefarious act added that the pedigree and commitment of Faleke towards the emergence of the APC Presidential candidate, were enough evidence of what he (Faleke) can do to guarantee the victory of APC in next year’s polls.
Disclosing this to Newsmen, Ogah stated that the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and member representing, Ikeja Federal Constituency at the National Assembly was fit for the job and would pilot the Secretairal affairs of Presidential Campaign Council competently.
5. Vigilante group dissociates self from killing of 12 in Taraba
A vigilante group operating between Gassol and Bali local government area of Taraba state, Da Yardan Allah Mu Je Masu, has disassociated itself from the killing of 12 persons in Zudai community of Bali LGA
The group at a briefing said it had no connection with the killing of innocent persons.
Chairman of the group, Gidado Sabuzy, who spoke said their group is law-abiding and has no connection with perpetrators of the dastardly act.
6. Nigerian cadets protest: NIMASA sends delegates to Philippines
FOLLOWING the protest embarked upon by cadets of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), in the Philippines, the agency on Saturday, said it will embark on a fact-finding mission to the Philippines to engage the school where its Cadets of the National Seafarers Development Program (NSDP) are studying, over their grievances that led to the protest in the Asian country, which was captured in a viral video.
In a statement, the agency’s management said the issue surrounding the grievances of the cadets would be tackled from an informed position, as the matter far predated the current administration.
Recall that the Nigerian Embassy in Manila, Philippines have criticized the Batch 2 cadets under the National Seafarers Development Program (NSDP) for displaying total disregard for the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on whose sponsorship they were in the Philippines to study.

7. Tension in Onitsha as widows, traders protest market merger
Over 2,000 traders from Ajasa Street market on Saturday protested alleged forceful merger with Oseokwodu market in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The protesters, mostly widows, also raised the alarm over heavy shootings by local vigilante group attached to a neighboring market in the process.
Led by their woman leader, Mrs Ngozi Ezediniru, the traders said they were surprised to see some armed men, attached to the Oseokwodu market, storm their market and started shooting indiscriminately that compelled traders to scamper for safety.
She said: “Ajasa Street market has been in existence right from time immemorial. Why will the chairman of Oseokwodu market, Chief Ikechukwu Umeanozie use his security men to forcefully merge us without our consent when were are independent registered Street market.
8. Christian Pulisic and Mason Mount help Chelsea to smooth win over Wolves

9. NLC laments non-payment of textile workers, 20 years after closure in Kaduna
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Kaduna State council, has condemned the continuous non-payment of entitlements of sacked Arewa textiles Limited workers in the state.
The solidarity protest was part of activities to commemorate the 2022 International Decent Work Day celebration held on Thursday and Friday in Kaduna.
Comrade Ayuba Magaji Suleiman, the NLC Chairman, Kaduna State council, while speaking said, “we are here this morning at the gate of Arewa Textiles limited, to commemorate the International ‘Decent work Day’ and we choose to do one of what labour laws provided, that is picketting.”
He lamented that they were at the premises of the company (Arewa Textiles) despite the fact that it has been closed down for over 20 years, saying that members from the Nigerian union of textiles and garment and tailoring workers have issues on behalf of the formers workers of Arewa textiles limited and have a lingering issue of settlement of entitlements, since when the company was closed down in 2002.
