1. Tinubu seeks votes at Gombe gov’s son wedding
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, on Saturday, lauded the North-East region for its overwhelming support to his political career, urging residents to redouble their supports towards helping him achieve his aspiration.
Tinubu made this appeal in his address shortly after the wedding Fatiha of Misbau Yahaya, son of the Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, and his bride, Amira Babayo, which attracted other dignitaries, including Boss Mustapha who led the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.)’s delegation to the occasion.
Governor Yahaya had recently in Niger State promised Tinubu the region’s support despite candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar’s dominance in North-East.
The former Lagos State governor, while commending the region, said more was expected following the inclusion of their son, Kashim Shettima, as running mate, promising residents economic prosperity.
He said, “To the people of North-East, thank you for all you have been doing for me. I feel at home, I challenge you, though, what you have done in the past, now that your son is my running mate, you have to double your efforts and you have to do more.”
2. Obi-Datti supporters lock down Anambra, seek disruptive change
A coalition of support groups in Anambra State on Saturday held a solidarity march in support of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, ahead of the 2023 general election.
The supporters marched from Alex Ekwueme Square, near the state House of Assembly in Awka, along Aroma to Eke-Awka road to the U-turn linking Kwata along Enugu/Awka Expressway and back to the Alex Ekwueme Square, where the supporters were addressed.
The rally, tagged, “two-million man march”, commenced at exactly 10.00 am on Saturday.
The solidarity march was organised by a group, under the aegis of Coalition for Peter Obi, in conjunction with about 60 other support groups and they were carrying several inscriptions which indicated their support for Obi.
Some of the inscriptions read, “Obi-Datti for Presidency 2023”, “Obi is the one to unify Nigeria”, “Peter Obi will create jobs and wealth for Nigerians” and “There is no polling unit on social media, Get Involved “.
3. MKO Abiola’s son reveals plan for 2023 presidency
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, Kola Abiola has declared he will win 2023 election by repeating the feat of his late father, Chief MKO Abiola, during the June 12, 1993 election.
Kola spoke with newsmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Saturday, at the funeral service of the late governorship candidate of the PRP in Ogun State, Prof David Bamgbose.
Kola’s father, the late business tycoon, presumably won the 1993 presidential election adjudged to be the fairest and freest poll in Nigeria.
The PRO presidential candidate who said he is out to disrupt the process and win next year’s election, explained that he led the campaign planning and execution that earned his late father “victory” during the controversial election.when he was 28 years .
The PRP candidate vowed to adopt grassroot approach and pursue a recruitment drive that “will change the face of politics in Nigeria.”

4. I did not order disruption of Peter Obi’s rally – Umahi
Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State on Saturday disclosed that he never ordered the disruption of a solidarity rally by supporters of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Umahi made the clarification via a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Strategy, Chooks Oko.
The statement was issued hours after policemen tear-gassed Obi’s supporters at a rally in Abakaliki.
The statement reads: “The attention of the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State have been drawn to some online publications and rumours making the rounds that he ordered the disruption of a gathering in support of one of the presidential candidates in the 2023 elections. This is not true.
5. 2023: Why we support Labour Party on subsidy removal — NLC
The Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi has promised to stop payment of petrol subsidy if he emerges the president, vowing to make the country a production country and not a consumption nation.
But the All Progressives Congress, APC, Campaign Organization has criticized the NLC for supporting the LP Presidential candidate who has promised to remove petrol subsidy if he becomes president in the forthcoming election contrary to the stiff opposition the labour movement has given to the past and present administrations on the matter.
Reacting to the statement by the spokesman of the APC Campaign Organization, Festus Keyamo, the NLC explained that at its recent retreat, the Labour Party and Organized Labour in Nigeria adopted and mainstreamed the Workers Charter of Demands into the Manifesto of the Labour Party.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami has said that his ministry has played a critical role in rescuing the nation’s economy from total collapse.

7. Many trapped as four-storey building collapses in Uyo
A four-storey building has collapsed in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.
The building is located at Nse Ntip street behind Zenith Bank along Aka road.
Though there is no report of fatal casualty, it is reported many are trapped in the building.
8. Double efforts for Shettima and I, Tinubu tells North East
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has urged the north east to double efforts in support for their son and vice presidential candidate Senator Kashim Shettima who is from the region.
Tinubu stated this while addressing party leaders and faithfuls at the wedding ceremony of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s son, Misbau Yahaya in Gombe.
Tinubu, while acknowledging it was not yet time for campaign, urged them to ensure that he becomes the next President in 2023.
“North East people, what you have done in the past I appreciate. Now that your son is my running mate, you have to double your efforts,” he said.
The APC presidential candidate held all invitees at the wedding ceremony spellbound as he suddenly transformed into a wedding counsellor and prayer warrior.
He prayed for a successful married life for the couple and advised them to adhere to marital etiquettes.

9. Outrageous billing: Group urges PHEDC to distribute prepaid meters in Akwa Ibom
A foremost socio-cultural group of Ibibio extraction, Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, has told the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC, to as a matter of urgency distribute prepaid meters to its customers in Akwa Ibom State.
The group made the call in the wake of rising complaints of outrageous estimated bills to Akwa Ibom households by PHEDC despite the reported poor services.
This was contained in a communique signed by the union’s international president and the Secretary, James Edet and Bassey Bassey, respectively, and issued to newsmen on Saturday at the end of its central working committee meeting held in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The socio-cultural group condemned the situations where PHEDC laid claims to transformers and electricity poles purchased by individuals or communities, saying that such facilities could only be bequeathed to them on a 50-50 equity ownership between them and the providers.
10. FG must totally heed ASUU’s demands – ADC
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) South East Zone has called on the Federal Government under the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) to totally heed the critical demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as the only way forward to rescue the educational system from total collapse.

The party also called on lawmakers to totally reject and throw away the obnoxious Water Resource Bill being debated on the floor of the National Assembly.
ADC added that it would take the southeast out of its current problems if voted in the 2023 election.
