1. PSC dismisses three officers, promotes 109 staff
The Police Service Commission on Wednesday approved the dismissal of three Assistant Superintendents of Police, demoted an Assistant Commissioner of Police, a Chief Superintendent, two Superintendents of Police, and one Assistant Superintendent of Police.
The PSC also approved the promotion of 109 senior staff of the commission and granted severe reprimand to an ACP, a CSP, four SPs, two DSPs, and 12 ASPs.
These were the high points of the 20th plenary of the PSC presided over by its Chairman, Dr Solomon Arase, a former Inspector General of Police, at its corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
2. Extend tenure of amnesty programme coordinator, Group urges Tinubu
A group under the auspices of the Coalition of Niger Delta Civil Society Groups have called on the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to extend the tenure of the interim administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme Major General Barry Ndiomu (retd).
The group which includes the Niger Delta Solidarity Forum, Niger Delta Progressive Front and Coalition of Niger Delta Youth Movement, also demanded that Ndiomu be appointed substantive Chairman or the Special Adviser to the President on Amnesty Programme.
Speaking in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Wednesday, the leader of the coalition, Comrade Bunawari Doso stated that Ndiomu had done well in the office and if his tenure was extended, he would achieve a lot more in the office, saying he had a passion for development and promotion of the ideals of the office.
Doso explained that a lot of achievements were ascribed to Ndiumo’s administration, which included the creation of the Amnesty Corporative Scheme.
3. DELSU partners agencies to develop aquafeed
Delta State University, Abraka, has announced a partnership with the National Taiwan Ocean University, Keelong and the Nigerian Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research, Lagos “to use innovative and transformative aquaculture to bridge the huge gap between fish demand and domestic production as well as non-readily availability of tilapia feed in the country”.
To this end, two tripartite Memorandum of Understanding have been signed between the three institutions with a view to ensuring food security in the country.
The Vice Chancellor of DELSU, Professor Andy Ogochukwu Egwunyenga, disclosed this on Wednesday at a press conference to herald the 15th Convocation ceremonies of the University.

4. NEMSA warns against importation of substandard electricity materials
Engr Aliyu Tahir, Managing Director, Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency(NEMSA), has warned against importation of substandard electricity materials into Nigeria.
Tahir, who is also Chief Electrical Inspector of the Federation, gave the warning at the 2023 First Quarter Interactive Session with Energy Reporters in Abuja on Wednesday.
He said the agency was collaborating with Standard Organisation of Nigeria(SON), security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure that only standard electrical materials were imported into Nigeria.
He said NEMSA had begun removing such materials across the country, adding that 68,168 substandard materials were removed in 2022.
5. FEC approves Action Plan 2022-2026 on Human Rights
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved Action Plan 2022-2026 for the promotion and protection of human rights in Nigeria.
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents at the weekly meeting of the council chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday in Abuja.
The plan was formulated by the stakeholders in Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government.
6. Enugu police command confirms murder of APGA chieftain
THE Enugu state police command had confirmed the killing of former APGA governorship aspirant in the state, Engr. Dons Udeh was reported kidnapped last week
The police said the command has embarked on an investigation to fish out those behind his death former gubernatorial.
Engr. Udeh who was declared missing last Saturday, was found dead and his body was said to have been found in the 9th Mile area, on the outskirts of Enugu metropolis. His vehicle was also said to have been recovered.
Ude was not picking up his calls which raised fears that he might have been abducted. A source said his telephone was later found by the wall of the Ogui Police Station heightening the fears that something was wrong with him.
