1. APC youth leader appoints senior advisors
The All Progressives Congress National Youth Leader, Dayo Isreal, has appointed senior advisors for the party’s youth wing ahead of the 2023 elections.
Those appointed included Mr Abraham Great, Mr Lanre Oyegbola, Chief Emeka Udeh, Hon Abubakar Jallo Hadeja, Hon Ife Adebayo, Arc Ahmed Ningi, Hon Aminu Suleiman and Mr Segun Tomori.
He explained that the new advisors have been carefully selected following their contributions to programmes of the ruling party youth wing.
Announcing their appointment in a tweet on his Twitter handle on Wednesday, Isreal expressed his readiness to work with the new advisors in driving the party to victory.
2. Obi, Kwankwaso promise women, PWDs inclusion
The inclusion of women and Persons Living With Disabilities in governance in 2023 took the centre stage in Abuja on Wednesday as presidential candidates of some political parties tabled their agenda before a coalition of civil society organisations and international partners.
Presidential candidates present at the event include that of Labour Party, Peter Obi; the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the Accord Party, Prof. Christopher Imumolen..

3. I’ve done my best for Nigeria, says Buhari
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Monday in Washington DC, said his regime has done its best in the past seven and half years despite the country’s huge size, population and a plethora of challenges.
“We are big in size and population, facing many challenges, but in many areas, we are trying. In seven-and-a-half years, I have done my best,” Buhari told a visiting delegation comprising the Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Forum, Sheikh Al-Mahfoudh Bin Bayyah and his deputy, Pastor Bob Roberts of the US.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement signed late Tuesday, titled President Buhari to receive award on peace and security, says the youth must be the focus.
He added that the country’s youths are promised a better future and solving their problems is the priority of the government.

4. Kanu’s lawyer, sues Simon Ekpa for crime against humanity in S’East
Mr Ifeanyi Ejimofor, Counsel to the detained Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has sued a self-acclaimed discipline of Kanu, Mazi Simon Ekpa for crime against humanity in the South Easterner part of Nigeria.
Defendants in the suit include: Simon Ekpa, Anibueze Juliet, Obinna Uzoaganaobi, Chukwuemeka Livingstone, and Raphael Ajaere.
The suit marked: CU/788/2022 was filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on December 12, 2022.
5. Reps step down diaspora trust fund, same sex marriage amendment bills
House of Representatives, Wednesday, stepped down the second reading of two bills seeking to establish Nigeria Diaspora Intervention Trust Fund and amendment for same sex act.
The development came on the heels of a heated debate mostly against the bills.
The bills were sponsored by Hon. Bamidele Salam from Osun state and Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum from Kano State respectively.
6. CSR: NNPC moves to fix N1.6trn road projects
THE Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC Limited, has expressed commitment towards the reconstruction of selected federal roads as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR.
Already, the NNPC Limited disclosed that it has released N621 billion for the initiative, adding that it would invest over N1 trillion for a similar purpose, targeted at enhancing the distribution of petroleum products nationwide.
In the first phase, the NNPC was expected to construct a total of 1,804.6 kilometres of roads at a total cost of over N621 billion, with the North-Central getting the highest chunk of N244.87 billion and the South-South emerging the second highest beneficiary of the NNPC roads project with the sum of N172.02 billion.
In addition, the South-West has a total allocation of N81.87 billion; N56.12 billion for the North-East, while the South-East has N43.28 billion allocation. The North-west was allocated N23.05 billion.

7. I’ll drive Lagos Special Status demand at NASS-Adebule
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Lagos West Senatorial District, Dr. Idiat Adebule, has promised to drive the demand for Lagos Special Status if elected.
Adebule spoke at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja GRA where he officially presented an 11-point Agenda.
According to her, Lagos State shouldn’t be denied Special Status going by its importance to the nation and West Africa.
“I will pursue the actualisation of special status for Lagos State to enhance the socio-economic viability of the people of Lagos,” she said.
8. JAMB remits N50bn, expends N750m on CSR – Oloyede
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said it has remitted N50billion to the Federal Government’s coffers in the last six years.
The examination body also said it expended N500m as Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) in support of Nigerian universities to increase their capacity to give admission to applicants every year in the last five years.
The JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede made these known in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, while delivering a special public lecture titled: “The imperatives of JAMB in tertiary education in Nigeria.”
He said: “The recent strategic and structural innovations in JAMB have resulted in significant impacts on the Board in areas such as cost control, prevention of financial leakages and minimisation of financial corruption. This has changed the narratives such that JAMB now posts humongous returns to the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF). The Board also expanded internal capacities for its operations with direct execution of processes and procedures.

9. 2023: All Southeast govs may vote Peter Obi – Ohanaeze Vice President
The National Vice President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Damian Okeke-Ogene, has said all the state governors in the Southeast may vote for the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate in 2023.
Okeke-Ogene made the remark while stressing that nobody can decide which presidential candidate the Southeast would vote for in 2023.
He, however, noted that the Southeast is clamouring for Obi because he is a Nigerian project and not because he’s an Igbo man.
In a statement, he described Obi’s national acceptance as the first of its kind in the country.
10. Qatar 2022: Ronaldo’s next manager after World Cup exit revealed
Fernando Santos is set to be sacked as head coach of Portugal, following their 2022 World Cup quarter-final exit.
