1. NNPP suspends acting chairman for ‘insulting’ Buba Galadima
The New Nigeria People’s Party in Bauchi State has suspended its acting Chairman in the state, Alhaji Sani Shehu, popularly known as Sanin Malam.
His suspension which was for “gross indiscipline and disrespect to the leadership of the party”, was contained in a letter dated July 13th, 2022 and addressed to him.
The North-East Zonal Secretary of the NNPP, Babayo Liman, who signed the letter and read it to journalists during a press conference held at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Bauchi State Council, on Wednesday, warned Shehu to stop parading himself as the acting chairman pending investigations of the allegations against him.
The letter read, “Your actions for not collecting the query issued to you on July 6th, 2022, have been categorized as gross indiscipline and disrespect to the leadership of the party.
2. Akeredolu’s commissioner resigns hours after redeployment
Few hours after the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, reshuffled his cabinet, one of the redeployed commissioners, Yetunde Adeyanju, tendered her resignation letter.
In the cabinet reshuffle done on Wednesday, Adeyanju was redeployed from the Ministry of Water Resources to the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
In resignation letter, addressed to the governor, which was made available to journalists, Adeyanju said her decision was based on her personal conviction to go out of politics.
The letter titled ‘Resignation of appointment’, read, “I, hereby, resign my appointment as a Commissioner in Ondo State with immediate effect.
3. Muslim-Muslim ticket act of God – APC chair, Adamu
The All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, on Wednesday, assured Christians that they had nothing to fear with the joint ticket of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima for the 2023 presidential election.
He said the party’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket was “the work and the will of God.”
Adamu made the declaration in Daura when he led the party’s National Working Committee on a Sallah visit to the President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
He also told journalists that he and his team were in Daura to brief the President on what transpired in Osun State on Tuesday during the APC governorship mega rally campaign.

4. DMO says FG borrowing according to budget
The Debt Management Office (DMO) said, yesterday, that the federal government borrowings were in line with approved budgets.
Reacting to a recent criticism about the Eurobnd and borrowing mix, it stated that those criticising its approach failed to consider the government’s borrowing needs as captured in the Annual Budgets, Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, as well as, the Debt Management Strategy.
Explaining further, the DMO stated that the borrowing needs were derived from the Annual Budgets while the borrowing mix was based on the subsisting Debt Management Strategy.
It said, “Successive Debt Management Strategies have often indicated that the Federal Government of Nigeria’s (FGN) preferred source of external borrowing is concessional sources rather than commercial sources such as Eurobonds.
5. Just In: Air Peace commences commercial flight operations to China
Barely eight years into commercial operation of aircraft in Nigeria, Air Peace has expanded its network to Asia with the commencement of a direct one-weekly flight to Guangzhou, China.
Vanguard gathered that a total of 240 passengers were carried out from Lagos directly to China through its Boeing 777 aircraft.
The company also noted that plans are underway to connect Beijing, Shanghai, others from Nigeria, utilising interline arrangement with Asian airline.
Speaking during the inaugural flight ceremony in Lagos, Air Peace Chief Operating Officer, Oluwatoyin Olajide, stated that the company had envisaged an airline that would predominantly create massive employment for Nigerians and reduce the burden of air travel for Nigerians, and by extension, Africans, through the provision of affordable and peaceful connectivity across cities and continents.
6. NAPTIP rescues 12-yrs-old girl forced into marrying 50-yrs-old man in Makurdi
The officials of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons, NAPTIP, have rescued a 12-year-old-girl who was allegedly forced into marrying a supposed 50 years old man in the Adaka area of Makurdi town.
The rescue of the minor followed the alarm raised Tuesday by one Lucky Iduh and a follow up by Makurdi based humanist, Ukan Kurugh which attracted the attention of the NAPTIP officials in Makurdi.
It was gathered that the girl was allegedly deceived into marrying the 50 year old farmer as his third wife by her family few months back after she was initially told that she being taken to where she would live and attend school.
“But when she discovered that she was brought to the man’s house as his third wife, the girl starting raising alarm and seeking for help to escape from the house. That was what attracted the attention of neighbours who started asking for help for the girl,” he said.

7. No agreement yet with ASUU-FG
The Federal Government on Wednesday stated that there was no Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between it and the Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) awaiting the signature of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Minister of Labour and Employment Senator Chris Ngige said this in a statement by the Deputy Director Press and Public Relations in the Ministry, Olajide Oshundun on Wednesday.
Ngige noted that even when such a CBA was produced between unions and the Federal Government, it was not the President that would sign but the government side, MDAs led by the direct employer with the conciliating ministry witnessing.
The Minister accused ASUU of fixing its salaries and allowances through the Nimi Briggs Committee to the exclusion of the statutory government ministries and agencies that manage the entire annual finances of government, budget and fiscal policies and the Office of the Head of Service in charge of ensuring that public service rules and regulations are not undermined in any condition of service offered to public officers in the universities
8. Sola Sobowale jubilates, lands first Bollywood role

9. Nothing to bequeath to my children after office as president – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has told his immediate family, particularly, his children that he is not leaving anything for them to inherit.
Buhari, who is expected to bow out of office as President in May 2023, insisted that the only legacy he hopes to bequeath to them is proper education.
The President, who was speaking on the importance of effective education, implored parents to inculcate right values in children, including deep fear of God, respect for constituted authorities and living a purposeful life through continuous education.
His comment comes amidst the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other sister unions.
While the President recently told ASUU that enough was enough regarding their prolonged strike, the leadership of the Union replied him, “describing the charge from the presidency as mere ranting without understanding the grasp of the issues that necessitated the strike”.
10. Amendment: Ogun endorses 44 alterations to 1999 constitution
Stakeholders in Ogun State have supported the 44 alteration bills approved by the National Assembly in an attempt to amend the 1999 constitution.
The bills, which were sent to the State Houses of Assembly in the country for consideration, got the nod of critical stakeholders in Ogun, who all canvassed for the speedy passage and subsequent assent by President Muhammadu Buhari.
During a public hearing held Wednesday on the fifth Alteration of the 1999 Constitution at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the stakeholders concurred that the subsequent passage, assent and implementation of the bills would enhance national development.
The public hearing had in attendance, the National President, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Akeem Ambali; the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye; the State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Emmanuel Bankole; the State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Kolawole Obadina; the State Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Akinola Abiodun; representative of Ogun West Stakeholders, Dr Yemisi Bamgbose; the Deputy Corps Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ajayi Amos and others.
