1. Supreme Court reaffirms Wali as Kano PDP gov candidate
The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed Muhammad Abacha’s appeal, challenging the victory of Sadiq Aminu Wali, as Kano governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Recall that the Kano division of the Court of Appeal on February 10, 2023, sacked Mohammed Abacha, as the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the state.
In its ruling, the court set aside the judgment of a High Court that recognized Abacha, as the PDP standard bearer in the state.
2. ACF chieftain Yakassai warns Tinubu against unity govt
A founding member of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, has warned the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, not to bow to the pressure of forming a government of national unity.
A national unity government or government of national unity is a broad coalition consisting of all parties (or all major parties), usually formed during a time of war or national emergency.
The elder statesman gave the warning during an interview at his residence in Abuja on Wednesday.
3. Assailants killl Osun resident, APC fingers PDP thugs
Some yet-to-be-identified assailants have reportedly murdered a resident of Ijebu Jesa in Osun State, Tunde Ejoka.
According to findings, the corpse of the late Ejoka was discovered in the early hours of Wednesday in his residence.
Sources in Ijebu Jesa said the late Ejoka had hearing and speaking impairment and was discovered dismembered by some unknown people.
The spokesperson for Osun Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident, saying an investigation had commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing.

4. President-elect visits Buhari, presents Certificate of Return
President-elect, Sen. BolaTinubu, on Wednesday night met with President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, hours after collecting his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Tinubu was accompanied by Vice-President-elect, Kashim Shettima and the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Abdullahi Adamu.
Others on the trip to Daura were the Governors of Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai; Kebbi, Atiku Bagudu; Ebonyi, Dave Umahi; Zamfara, Bello Matawalle; Niger, Abubakar Sani-Bello; Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Ogun, Dapo Abiodun, Jigawa, Badaru Abubakar and Plateau, Simon Lalong.
5. UK prime minister, Sunak congratulates Tinubu on election victory
United Kingdom prime minister Rishi Sunak has congratulated Nigeria’s president-elect Bola Tinubu on his victory at the 2023 presidential election.
“Congratulations to Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory in Nigeria,” Sunak tweeted Wednesday.
“The UK-Nigeria relationship remains strong. I look forward to working together to grow our security and trade ties, opening up opportunities for businesses and creating prosperity in both our countries.”
6. ‘You are undermining election process,’ Buni attacks Obasanjo
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has condemned the statement made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to cancel the result of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Buni said the former president’s statement is capable of inciting violence across the country and undermining the election process.
He disclosed this on Wednesday during a meeting with traditional rulers and critical stakeholders held at the Government House in Damaturu.
