Igbo Elders under the aegis of Igbo Patriotic Forum, on Wednesday, called on the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), and police hierarchy to reopen police stations in the South-East which have been closed for over three years.
The forum said the plea became necessary because while the closure has led to increased insecurity in that geopolitical zone, lawlessness and “a senseless sit-at-home out of sheer fear” had continued to reign supreme.
The Chairman of IPF and former Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Simon Okeke, said this during a press conference in Abuja.
He also called on Nigerians not to be discouraged by the failure of the Independent National Electoral Commission to upload the presidential election results from the polling units to the INEC results Viewing Portal.

The Bola Tinubu presidential campaign spokesman in the southeast, Dr Josef Onoh has repudiated Senators-elect and House of Representatives members-elect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) who accepted collection of their Certificates of Return while their political parties are contesting the election that produced them and the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.
Onoh stated that it was hypocritical for those opposition party members to be rejoicing over the collection of their Certificates of Return in the INEC office but go back to their party offices to sing aluta continua.
According to the spokesman, it was also an act of double standard and deceit of the public, knowing that the election that produced both the National Assembly members-elect and that of the President-elect was conducted with the same BVAS on the same day and venue, which their political parties are claiming were not used to upload the results that were obtained on the February 25th election day.
