1. Why FG approved national blockchain policy
The Federal Government of Nigeria, on Wednesday, approved the National Blockchain Policy.
This was revealed by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, during the Federal Executive Council meeting held at the state house in Abuja.
In a statement signed by the Senior Technical Assistant, Research and Development to the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Femi Adeluyi, thw minister disclosed that the activities of the policy would be coordinated by the National Information Technology Development Agency, under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.
2. Senate presidency: APC mulls consensus, asks Lukman to withdraw suit against Adamu
The ruling All Progressives Congress has hinted that it may opt for consensus candidates in place of the much-publicised zoning of leadership positions in the 10th National Assembly.
This was even as the ruling party affirmed that no decision can be taken without the input of the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Multiple sources within the secretariat also told our correspondent that the party is planning to appease some ambitious aspirants to settle for consensus candidates.
3. Viral video: Ogun Rep-elect denies attacking activist
A former Commissioner for Forestry in Ogun State, Tunji Akinosi, has denied attacking a female activist, Abiodun Thomas, after his car allegedly hit a hawker in the Onikan area of Lagos State.
Akinosi, a member-elect of the House of Representatives from Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency of Ogun State, on Monday, had reportedly used his black Prado SUV to brush the hawker.
But the lawmaker denied the allegation, warning against mischief by those circulating the video of the incident.
He also explained that though his car didn’t hit the hawker as claimed, he offered to be responsible for the victim’s medical treatment without any protest.

4. NDDC: Let’s towpath of peace now – N/Delta youths
THE national coordinator of Niger Delta Youth Council, Engr. Jator Abido,has advised youths in the Niger Delta region to begin to tow the path of peace , saying the region has overtime been enmeshed in series of crisis which he said,had impeded its progress.
Noting that Niger Delta has seen enough violence which impact he said was detrimental to the development and growth of the region,he warnedt that enough was enough.
His position came against the backdrop of planned protest by the youths against the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, over allegations bothering on unilateral decisions which they noted, was segregational to them.
5. May 29: Ayinde, Omotoso, Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat, lead 22-man inauguration c’ttee
A 22-man inauguration committee to coordinate the activities for the May 29 swearing-in ceremony of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat’s second term in office has been constituted.
Commissoner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso announced this on Wednesday evening, in a statement.
The committee is led by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Tayo Ayinde, as Chairman and a former Commissioner for Education in Lagos State, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, as Vice-Chairman.
6. Nasarawa: Obtain your degree in ten years or be sacked – Assembly tells judges
WORRIED by the Area courts being manned by unqualified judges, Nasarawa state House of Assembly Wednesday provided judges without a degree 10 years window to obtain the prerequisites qualification or be booted out.
The House gave the recommended following the proposed amendment of the bill to implementing the principal law passed in 2022.
According to the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the 10 years window period granted to judges of Area courts without degree in Law is to enable the affected judges obtain the qualification for effective Judicial service delivery in Nasarawa state.
