1. Wike’s endorsement of Sanwo-Olu, not a surprise – Jandor
Lagos Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Jide Adeniran, has said no one should express shock over the recent endorsement of Babajide Sanwo-Olu by Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, adding that he had never supported his governorship ambition.
The PDP governorship candidate popularly known as Jandor stated this on Wednesday when he appeared on Channels Television Politics Today.
He said, “As a matter of fact, what happened (referring to the incident) should not surprise anyone but, in my case, I am not surprised because it is Governor Wike. No one will express shock over what he said except you are not in this country.
2. FG asks telcos to reverse call, data costs
The Federal Government has asked telecommunication companies to reverse their recent 10 per cent hike of calls and data prices.
This decision means that telcos like MTN Nigeria and Airtel, who had initially increased the prices of their data bundles by about 10 per cent, will now need to revert to their old prices.
This was revealed by the Nigerian Communications Commission on Wednesday
3. Journalists detained for defaming Kwara gov get bail
An Ilorin Magistrate Court on Wednesday granted bail to two detained journalist siblings, Dare Akogun and Abdulrasheed Akogun, for allegedly defaming and inciting the public against the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
Magistrate Bio Saliu admitted the two journalists to a bail of N500,000 each and a surety each with landed property in Ilorin, among others requests.
The detained journalists were brought to court unchained around 10:15 am with sympathisers, colleagues and family members flooding the court premises.
There was a mild drama between the police prosecutor and the representative of the office of the State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice over the way and manner the case was taken over by the office of the Attorney General.

4. Building collapse: Lagos govt. vows to crack down on fraudulent developers
The Lagos State government on Wednesday vowed to crack down on fraudulent property developers and agents, and bring to book those responsible for reported cases of building collapse.
Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Housing, said this while delivering a keynote address at the 31st Lagos Builders’ Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Building with the theme: ‘The Shifting Landscape: Redefining The Real Estate Industry’ held in Lagos.
Benson-Awoyinka said the good reputation of the real estate industry in the state must be sustained despite the incidences of building collapse and fraudulent and unprofessional practices in the real estate market.
5. Vote candidate with records, Gbajabiamila tells students, youths
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila has urged Nigerian students and youths to participate fully in the 2023 general elections by voting for a presidential candidate with track records.
Gbajabiamila said this when the leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) paid him an appreciative visit in his office in Abuja on Wednesday.
NANS executives were led by their President, Usman Barambu to appreciate the key role the Speaker played in ending the eight-month-long strike embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
6. Why Lagos-Ibadan expressway is suffering delay – Fashola
The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola says the Lagos-Ibadan expressway is suffering delay because of the drainage channel being constructed across the road by the Oyo State Government in its Ibadan axis.
The minister disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja at the inaugural edition of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration Scorecard 2015-2023 Series, organised by his Ministry of Information and Culture.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the scorecard series which features ministers and top government officials is designed to showcase the achievements of the administration as it winds down.

7. UNIBEN reopens on Sunday
The authorities of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) have instructed students to return to campus on Sunday following the suspension of the eight-month strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
UNIBEN’s spokesperson, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire, announced this in Benin.
She said: “UNIBEN’s Senate has amended the institution’s 2020/2021 academic calendar and approved Sunday, October 23, 2022, for students to return to halls of residence.
8. BBNaija host, stars storm Rico Swavey’s service of songs
Big Brother Naija host and stars have trooped out in honour of their deceased colleague, Patrick Adebowale Fakoya aka Rico Swavey.
Rico, 29, died on Thursday after involvement in an auto crash on Tuesday.
The late reality TV star’s burial arrangement was announced by his family and management team on Twitter.
According to the statement, a night of tribute and candlelight walk would take place at Retro Citi, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Wednesday.

9. Lagos lawmaker opens up on plot against Speaker Obasa
A member of the Lagos House of Assembly, Gholahan Yishawu, has denied being part of a plot against the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
The representative of Eti-Osa 02 constituency spoke with newsmen in Lagos on Wednesday..
The Chairman, Committee on Budget and Planning said he had no hand in the plan to stop Obasa from leading the House again.
Yishawu noted that the number of terms a person could serve as Speaker was not limited.
The lawmaker said he maintained a good relationship with Obasa and aligned with his agenda to move the Assembly and the State forward.
10. Flooding: Akwa Ibom urges emergency management to be on alert
In an attempt to forestall the threatening flood cases in Akwa Ibom State, the State Executive Council has called for a review of the flood map capacity of the state.
The council also directed all relevant agencies involved in emergency management to be on alert.
The Commissioner for Information And Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, made the disclosure on Wednesday after the State Executive Council meeting presided by the Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel at Government House, Uyo.
The Commissioner said the council has also mandated the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, to start sensitization in rural areas which he said is a step in managing a possible occurrence of flooding.
