1. Emefiele: Anti-DSS protesters storm court, petition AGF
Protesters numbering over 200 on Monday stormed a Federal High Court in Abuja following a suit secretly filed by the Department of State Services, accusing the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, of terrorism financing and other crimes.
The protesters included Buhari Legacy Defenders, Arewa Youth Consultative Movement, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Movement, African Centre for Justice and Human rights, Ethnic Youth Leaders, Political Parties Chairmen Forum and Lawyers in Defence of Economic Rights and Justice.
They marched to the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation where they submitted a petition against the action of the DSS and demanded the sack of its DG, Yusuf Bichi.
2. Police kill 12 suspected bandits in Bauchi
The Bauchi State Police Command says it has neutralised 12 suspected kidnappers and bandits during a raid in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
This is contained in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Wakil, on Monday in Bauchi.
He said the police also recovered weapons and motorcycles from the bandits.
Wakil said that a joint operation of security operatives engaged the suspects in four hideouts at Mansur, Digare, Gwana and Dajin Madam in Alkaleri Forest.
3. Delta ex-gov Uduaghan loses father-in-law
The father-in-law of the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, Brigadier-General Sunny Esijolomi Tuoyo (retd.), is dead.
The late Brigadier-General Tuoyo (retd), was the former Military Administrator of old Ondo State.
Aged 84 years, Brigadier-General Tuoyo (retd), passed on Saturday, December 17, 2022 in Lagos State.
A statement issued on Monday by Uduaghan’s media assistant, Monoyo Edon, extolled the patriotism of the late army general.

4. 25 female governorship candidates unveil agenda for 2023 poll
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, about 25 female governorship candidates contesting on the platform of various political parties in the states, on Monday, unveiled their agenda for the poll.
They spoke at a media engagement organised by Women Radio 91.7FM in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the programme was supported by the UN Women and Canadian government.
The governorship candidate of Action People’s Party (APP) in Delta, Annabel Cosmos, said since the inception of democracy in 1999, the men had not done enough to give the state a facelift, hence, the need for women to take up the challenge.
5. ‘He drugs me at night to rape my niece’ – Femi Olaleye’s wife reveals
Nigerian doctor, Femi Olaleye’s wife who accused her husband of raping her niece, has told the court how he allegedly gave her sleeping pills in the night to sleep with her 16-year-old niece.
On Monday, Aderemi Faleye delivered a speech before the Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court in Ikeja, Lagos State.
Olaleye is accused of sexual penetration and defiling a child on two counts.
6. INEC won’t relent in fighting vote-buying —Yakubu
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it won’t relent in its determination to prevent vote-buying in 2023 general election.
The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said this at a day stakeholders’ summit on addressing the influence of money in the 2023 general election on Monday in Abuja.
Yakubu said that as a commission, INEC harboured no illusion that it was going to be easy to root out the negative influence of money on election, saying however that it was determined to tackle it.
“We fully realised that today’s initiative will not go down well with people who may not be committed to the growth of our electoral system and the consolidation of our democracy.
“We expect them to fight back. There will be both covert and overt pressure, countervailing actions and even threats by these vested interests.
“I wish to reiterate that our loyalty is to Nigeria and our allegiance is to Nigerians. We are committed to working with the collaborating agencies to see that this initiative succeeds in the 2023 general election and beyond.

7. IPOB: we have no bomb factory
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Monday denied having a bomb factory in Ebonyi State or anywhere in Southeast.
The Ebonyi State Police Command had said it recovered some improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from the biggest bomb factory in the Southeast belonging to IPOB.
The police said the recovered IEDs were capable of causing colossal damage when detonated.
In a statement by its spokesman Emma Powerful, IPOB denied the allegation.
8. Man jailed 10 years for abducting, selling cousin
The Akwa Ibom State High Court in Okoita, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, has sentenced a 34-year-old man, Kingsley Etim Eyo, to 10 years imprisonment for abducting his cousin, a six-year-old boy.
The boy has still not been found.
Eyo, a native of Ikot Otoinyie Village in Uruan Local Government Area, was convicted having been found guilty by Justice Okon Okon.
The judge held that the convict betrayed his cousin’s trust.

9. Ogun needs aviation school as Abiodun completes airport – Daniel to FG
A former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, has told the Federal Government that the State is in need of an aviation school.
For this to become a reality, Daniel asked the Federal Government to take over and convert the Government Technical College, Ilara-Remo to a school of aviation.
Daniel, who is the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Ogun East, said the technical college in Ilara-Remo would be more appropriate to pioneer the establishment of an aviation school in Ogun, due to its proximity to the cargo airport being completed by Governor Dapo Abiodun in Iperu.
Speaking during his campaign tour to Remo North Local Government, Daniel said he would work towards ensuring that Ogun gets an aviation school if elected senator in 2003.
10. Qatar 2022: It’s sad, you’ll be remembered for your antics – Saha slams Argentina’s Martinez
Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has slammed Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez for his antics after his side’s 2022 FIFA World Cup final win over France on Sunday in Qatar.
Argentina won the World Cup, thanks to Martinez’s heroics, in a 4-2 penalty shootout victory against France after the match ended in a 3-3 draw after 120 minutes.
Martinez, who won the Golden Glove for his performance during the competition, controversially celebrated by lowering the trophy towards his groin and thrusting it towards the crowd at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar.
