1. INEC declares Adamawa gov poll inconclusive
The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the governorship election held last Saturday in Adamawa State inconclusive.
The election management body said its decision was due to the margin of votes recorded in the election by the contestants.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Senator Aishatu Dahiru, popularly known as Binani, scored 390, 275 while the incumbent governor of the state and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ahmadu Fintiri, polled 421,524.
2. Gunmen kidnap INEC electoral officer in Zamfara with election results
The electoral officer in charge of Maradun Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Bashir Shagari, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
Shagari, according to a source, was coming to INEC collation center in Gusau to deliver the results of the governorship election for Maradun Local Government when he was kidnapped along the road on Monday.
The source further revealed that the electoral officer was together with other INEC staff when they were stopped on a bridge near Maradun town and whisked away to an unknown destination.
3. Billionaire media tycoon Murdoch finds love after fourth divorce
A 92-year-old billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch has announced engagement to his new girlfriend Ann Lesley Smith, less than a year after his divorce from his fourth wife, Jerry Hall, was finalised.
He revealed the news in an interview with one of his own publications, the New York Post, on Monday morning, revealing that he proposed to his 66-year-old girlfriend with an Asscher-cut diamond solitaire ring on St. Patrick’s Day in New York City.
Murdoch, who has been married four times before, admitted that he was ‘nervous’ about proposing yet again, admitting that he had ‘dreaded falling in love’ – but that he is confident that his marriage to Smith will be his ‘last’.
He said, “I was very nervous,’ he shared while revealing that the pair plan to wed this year, in late summer.’I dreaded falling in love — but I knew this would be my last. It better be. I’m happy.”

4. Borno: Zulum seeks forgiveness, pledges dividends of democracy after landslide win
Borno Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has secured 85% of votes after collation was concluded across the 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs). Zulum got 545,543 and left his closest opponent, Mohammed Ali Jajari of the PDP with 82,147 votes representing about 15% of the votes.
Prof. Jude Rabo, Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Wukari, Taraba State, and Returning Officer for the Borno Governorship Election, declared the result a few minutes past 6 pm.
“Having satisfied the requirement and won 25 percent in all the 27 Local Government Areas, I, Professor Jude Samani Rabo, hereby declare Babagana Umara Zulum the valid winner of the March 18 governorship election and returned as validly elected,” he declared.
5. Ogboru congratulates Oborevwori on election victory
The governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Great Ogboru, has congratulated the winner of the 2023 governorship election in Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Ogboru in a congratulatory message, however, lamented that the governorship elections witnessed high voter apathy and intimidation, describing the process as a major setback in the evolution of democratic tenets.
He said: “The 2023 governorship elections have come and gone. We witnessed a very high degree of voter apathy. Intimidation, violence, coercion, and unprecedented level of vote buying never seen before.
6. APC rejects Bauchi guber election results
The All Progressives Congress APC has rejected the result of Saturday’s Governorship election in Bauchi State which returned the incumbent, Governor Bala Mohammed as duly re-elected.
“With indisputable cases of over-voting, massive electoral fraud, thuggery, harassment, intimidation, and widespread despicable violence that marred the Bauchi State Governorship election, the All Progressives Congress APC calls stridently on the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to expeditiously investigate reports that its Bimodal Voter Accreditation System BVAS was compromised in many voting units and cancel invented results of affected polling units in the state”, party spokesman, Felix Morka said in a statement.
Specifically, the party said in Alkaleri, Kirfi, Toro, Warji, Ningi and Zaki Local Government Areas of Bauchi State which recorded widespread violence, overvoting and massive rigging against its Governorship Candidate, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (Rtd.), “it is perplexing that inexplicable massive figures were invented in polling units in which voting didn’t take place, and in which results were never collated”.

7. Sanwo-Olu approves 20% salary increase for workers
Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved a 20 percent increment of salary for civil servants in the State.
This was contained in a statement by the Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola on Monday.
It reads: “Furthermore, kindly note that the arrears for the month of January, 2023 will be paid along with salaries for the month of March, 2023 while the arrears for the month of February 2023 will be paid together with the salaries of April, 2023.
8. Ramadan: Sultan urges Muslims to look out for new moon Wednesday
As Muslims prepare for Ramadan, the Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, on Monday directed Muslim faithful to look out for the new moon of Sha’aban, 1444 A.H. which is equivalent to March 22nd, 2022, which signals the beginning of Ramadan.
Abubakar made the call in a statement by the Director of Administration, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Arc. Zubairu Haruna Usman-Ugwu.
He said one of the special activities during Ramadan is Tafsir, which is meant to enlighten Muslims, on the treasures of the Quranic messages, adding that the Tafsir sessions therefore should be devoted to preaching inter and intra-religious harmony, peaceful co-existence, promotion of good citizenship, neigbourliness and good governance

9. AFCONQ: Super Eagles hold first training session pre-Guinea-Bissau
The Super Eagles had their first training session on Monday night at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double header against Guinea-Bissau.
11 players took part in the session which was mostly light workouts.
The first 30 minutes of the session was open to journalists and the public.
