1. I didn’t call Yoruba political rascals, says Iwuanyanwu
The Chairman of Elders’ Forum of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, on Monday, dismissed reports claiming that he described the Yoruba as “political rascals.”
Iwuanyanwu’s comment during his outing at Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s one-year-in-office event in Awka, Anambra State, on Saturday, had generated controversy as some claimed he ridiculed the Yoruba.
The pan-Yoruba sociopolitical group, Afenifere, also asked the renowned philanthropist to clarify his statement.
2. Abia vigilante kills man over alleged missing company’s phone
A yet-to-be-identified official of the Abia State vigilante group has shot and killed one Izuchukwu Mbakwe, a 27-year-old staff of De Choice Eatery in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
It was gathered that the deceased was shot at a very close range on his lap on Sunday leading to his death.
Mbakwe, a native of Umuosu Okaiuga Nkwoegwu in Umuahia North Local Government was said to have arrived for his normal duties when the Internal Auditor invited a Vigilante Security Guards and demanded his arrest over a missing “Nokia Torch” belonging to the company.
3. Davido, PUMA partner on new fashion collection
Superstar afro beats singer, David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has announced the release of his highly-anticipated PUMA collection.
The singer, who has been absent from the public scene for several months, returned with new projects set to be rolled out in the coming weeks.
The singer announced that his fashion collection created in partnership with popular fashion brand, PUMA, is set for release in April.
He will also be touring PUMA stores in the United Kingdom and New York, US, for meet and greets with fans.

4. Inauguration: ‘We’re ready to defend Tinubu’s mandate’
A multitude of concerned Nigerians and other All Progressives Congress (APC) volunteers marched on the Unity Fountain in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, on Monday, 27th of March, to express their solidarity with the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as well as their readiness to defend his mandate.
This was against the backdrop of calls by the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, demanding the suspension of the presidential inauguration ceremony.
Speaking at the event, an APC Chieftain from Edo State, Prince John Mayaki, said the solidarity march was staged to “make it clear to the sore losers who have now devoted themselves to the ignoble and treasonous mission to inflame passion and truncate our democracy with irresponsible calls for the inauguration to be suspended that we are ready to defend the mandate we gave to our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
He slammed the likes of Obi and his running mate who he claimed have failed to learn from their failure at the polls that appeals to divisive and base emotions may help them hug the headlines of disreputable and uncritical platforms, but will never “take them to Aso Rock.”
5. Cash scarcity: Ngige moves to avert NLC’s nationwide strike
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, Monday moved swiftly to avert the impending nationwide strike of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, billed to commence on Wednesday.
Recall that the NLC had on Wednesday last week directed all its branches across the country and the affiliate unions to embark on mobilisation of members for the proposed strike due to the scarcity of naira notes that has caused untold hardships to Nigerians.
It threatened to embark on the industrial action, if the cash crunch, fuel scarcity and electricity tariff increase were not addressed.
5. Naira drops to N461.50 against dollar
The Naira depreciated against the dollar on Monday, exchanging N461.50 at the investors’ and exporters’ window.
The rate represented a decrease of 0.04 per cent when compared to the N461.33 for which it exchanged to the dollar before the close of business on on March 24.
The open indicative rate closed at N461.75 to the dollar on Monday.
An exchange rate of N462.42 to the dollar was the highest rate recorded within the day’s trading before it settled at N461.50.

7. Tinubu calls for prayers, thanksgiving for 71st birthday
The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested special prayers and thanksgiving instead of the annual colloquium to mark his 71st birthday on Wednesday.
The special prayers will be held in Lagos and other parts of the country.
A statement by Tinubu media aide, Tunde Rahman in Abuja on Monday indicated that the main event will be in Lagos with special prayers at the Central Mosque in each of the five divisions in the state including the Central Mosque, Alausa, and Ikeja.
During the prayer sessions, special prayers will be offered for the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria.
8. Publisher charged with insulting Gov Ayade’s in-law sent to prison
A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of the publisher of an online medium, CrossRiverWatch, Agba Jalingo in Kuje prison pending the consideration of his bail application.
Justice Zainab Abubakar gave the order in a ruling on Monday after Jalingo was arraigned on a charge, marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/565/2022 filed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command
Jalingo was accused of publishing an article deemed ‘insulting’ to Mrs Elizabeth Ayade, said to be the wife of the younger brother of Cross River Governor Ben Ayade.
He is, in the two-count charge, accused of making false publication intended to cause annoyance, ill will and insult to the person of Mrs. Ayade.

9. 2023 elections: Nigerian youths tell US, UK those who deserve visa ban
Some youths under the aegis of Free Nigeria Movement have called on the governments of the United States and United Kingdom to urgently place a visa ban on those behind violence during the just-concluded elections.
The youths also urged the “UK and US governments to revoke the citizenship” of those who sponsored thugs to intimidate and disrupt the voting process during the presidential election.
They made the call during a protest to the British High Commission and United States Embassy on Monday in Abuja.
10. Imo governorship election: Labour Party under fire over N25m nomination form
Ahead of the Imo State governorship election scheduled for November 11, the Labour Party, LP, is under fire for fixing the price of its expression of interest and nomination forms at N25 million.
DAILY POST reports that 12 aspirants, excluding the late Humprey Anumudu, have picked Labour Party’s forms to contest the Imo State off-cycle governorship election.
Nigerians, including the Labour Party, had frowned at the All Progressives Party, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the sale of their nomination forms for N40 million and N20 million respectively.
