1. National Assembly workers reject staggered arrears payment, issue strike notice
The workers at the National Assembly under the aegis of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria have rejected the proposed skeletal payment of outstanding National Minimum Wage by the National Assembly Service Commission.
PASAN threatened to embark on industrial action if the management of the National Assembly fails to pay the arrears to all categories of workers by the end of May.
In the communiqué issued by PASAN after a meeting with the NASC and the National Assembly management, the association particularly rejected the planned payment of the arrears to workers from Grade Level 03 to 17.
The NASC had planned to pay members of staff on GL 3 to 14 from May to December 2022; GL 15, January 2023; GL 16, February 2023; and GL 17, March 2023.
2. You can’t kill zoning, group tells Adamu, northern elders
The Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum has warned political parties and stakeholders in the political circle not to be cunning with the issue of zoning and power rotation offices, especially for the presidency in the 2023 elections.
The organisation warned that doing so would further threaten the unity of Nigeria.
The SMBLF noted, that, the recent comment by the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Adamu, that the party had not decided on the zoning of the presidency, with about 30 days to the presidential primary, “amounts to outright dishonesty and chicanery.”
While calling on northerners to “stop their trickery”, because “enough is enough!”, the SMBLF said, “we cannot have a northerner president for eight years and then welcome another one for another eight years or more. That is unacceptable to us.”
The organisation, therefore, strongly cautioned “all our governors, former governors, and top politicians not to accept the Vice Presidency nomination from any northern presidential candidate.”
3. Nigerians jumping into conclusion, says Yul Edochie’s second wife
Nigerian actress, Judy Austin, has noted that Nigerians were jumping into conclusion following the news of her marriage to Nollywood star, Yul Edochie.
The actor had caused a stir on social media last week when he announced his second marriage to Judy, adding that the actress already had a son for him.
On Monday, in a video making the rounds on the Internet, Judy noted that jumping into conclusion without hearing from the other party was not the best thing to do.
She began the video by appreciating her fans, saying, “Thanks for all the love. Thank you for all the support. I can’t believe I’m this loved. I want to thank you all for that. May God bless you. And I love you guys back.

4. Eid-el-Fitr: Fayemi visits Kebbi, commends Bagudu for developmental projects
The Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of Nigeria’s Governors’ Forum Dr John Kayode Fayemi has paid a visit to Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu governor of Kebbi state to rejoice with him on the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr marking the end of Ramadan fast.
The visit is also aimed at strengthening the unity and friendliness between the people of Ekiti and Kebbi states.

5. Buhari, Saraki aides clash over purchase of Tucano Jets
Five years after the anticipatory approval of $496,374,470 given by President Muhammadu Buhari, for the purchase of 12 A29 Super Tucano Aircraft without legislative approval, the Buhari Media Organisation and the Media Office of former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, are still quarrelling over the transaction.
The Buhari Media Organisation had in a statement titled: “Tucano Jets: Saraki lied, actually wanted to impeach Buhari on purchase,” accused the former Senate President of lying about playing a positive role leading up to the acquisition of the military hardware.
In the statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, the BMO said, “It has come to our notice that former Senate President and presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Bukola Saraki had been giving the impression that an intervention he spearheaded paved way for the sale of the aircraft to Nigeria.
6. I almost committed suicide, KOK opens up on terrifying childhood
Nollywood actor-turned-lawyer, Kanayo O Kanayo recently relived memories of his childhood, recalling how he almost committed suicide while living with his elder brother in Enugu.
The actor made this startling revelation in an interview Vanguard.
He said then he used to hawk Agidi on the streets of Enugu and in one of those dark days while he was crossing Abakpa Bridge to hawk Agidi, he looked into the deep water when a voice urged him to jump into the water and end his suffering.

7. Lagos East APC leaders endorse Abiru for re-election
All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Lagos East Senatorial District have endorsed Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru for a fresh term in the Senate.
They said in terms of quality representation, sponsorship of bills and resolutions, devotion to oversight functions, loyalty to the party, demonstration of good character, respect for party leaders and multiple empowerment programmes for constituents, he has lived up to expectation.
Three Governance Advisory Council (GAC) members-Senatorial Leader Busura Alebiosu, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun and Chief Akanni Seriki Bamu-praised Abiru for not letting the district down in the Senate.
8. ‘Drunk’ man falls from three-storey building in Lagos
A 41-year-old man, Irabor Edga, has been confirmed dead by the police after he allegedly fell off a three-storey building in Lagos.
The incident was said to have occurred around 5:30am on Saturday at Esther Adeleke Street, Lekki Phase 1.
It was gathered that Edga was allegedly drunk when he fell from the building while trying to urinate.
He was alleged to have drunk alcohol overnight and was intoxicated at the time of the incident which made him slip.

9. Boko Haram: Saraki replies BMO on Buhari ‘impeachment plot’ over Tucano jets
Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has responded to the Buhari Media Office (BMO) allegation that he attempted to scuttle Nigeria’s war against Boko Haram.
BMO accused the 8th National Assembly of frustrating Nigeria’s purchase of Super Tucano fighter jets from the United States in 2017.
The group also said Saraki and others planned to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari over the acquisition.
A statement on Saturday by Saraki’s spokesman, Yusuph Olaniyonu called it a “revisionist antic” of an “empty propaganda machine whose members lack understanding of the American system”.
10. Osun 2022: How Ladoja influenced my decision to join Accord Party – Ogunbiyi
Gubernatorial candidate of Accord Party in the July 16th governorship election in Osun state, Akin Ogunbiyi, has disclosed that it was the former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja that influenced his decision to join Accord Party.
Ogunbiyi made this revelation shortly after he visited the former governor at his Bodija Ibadan residence on Monday.
Our correspondent gathered that Ogunbiyi, a native of Ile-Ogbo in Aiyedire Local Government Area of the state had, a few weeks ago, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined Accord party.
Ogunbiyi has however disclosed that Ladoja played a major role in his movement from PDP to Accord party.
