1. Terrorists kidnap Kaduna monarch’s nine children, others
Some terrorists have reportedly invaded the palace of the Emir of Kagarko, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, in Southern Kaduna, kidnapping nine of his children in the town.
Among those abducted by the terrorists were his grandchildren and three others.
The incident, according to a resident, took place around 11.30 pm on Sunday. The resident claimed the terrorists stormed the town and headed straight to the monarch’s palace.
The source told journalists that the terrorists “took away his youngest wife, nine children and grandchildren but the wife escaped and returned back home.”
2. Canada expels Chinese diplomat over intimidation plot
Canada announced Monday the expulsion of a Chinese diplomat accused of having sought to intimidate a Canadian lawmaker and his family over the MP’s criticisms of Beijing.
“Canada has decided to declare persona non grata Mr. Zhao Wei,” Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said in a statement.
“I have been clear: we will not tolerate any form of foreign interference in our internal affairs. Diplomats in Canada have been warned that if they engage in this type of behavior, they will be sent home,” she added.
3. How UNILAG led security personnel to forcefully evict us from our home – Retired staff member
A retired University of Lagos staff member, Adejoke Vincent, has accused the institution’s security of vandalising her house with guns in the Yaba area of Lagos State.
Speaking about the forcible eviction, she stated that the land was sold to her in 2007 during the regime of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, adding that she was told to pay a sum of money to secure the property, which she did.
She went on to say that the court ruled on March 31 that the land belonged to the federal government, not any institution or individual, and that when she returned home from court, UNILAG’s security men had already broken their doors, windows and other property.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Dr. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, Monday, called on African First Ladies to join hands and work together in order to curb the escalation of the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
Dr. Buhari made this call in her remarks at the 10th General Assembly of the African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM) held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja.
She announced that the newly completed AFLPM Secretariat in Abuja would be commissioned on May 9, 2023.
