1. APC presents flags to 41 candidates in Oyo
The All Progressives Congress, Oyo State chapter has presented flags of the party to 41 candidates vying for various electives offices in the state.
The state party chairman, Isaac Omodewu, while presenting the flags during the inaugural campaign ceremony which was held at the mainbowl of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi mini stadium in Oyo town, admonished the candidates to work relentlessly and ensure that the party wom all elective offices in 2023 elections.
Omodewu said all the party candidates, include its governorship, Senator Teslim Folarin, had political records of excellence performance.
2. Nigeria has sufficient food to feed nation – FG
The Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Mohammad Abubakar, has said that the country has enough food to feed all citizens.
Abubakar made this known during his presentation at the fifth edition of the “PMB Administration Scorecard 2015-2023 Series,” held at Radio House, Abuja on Monday.
The Minister blamed the rising cost of food in the country on inflation and the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic that forced many countries including Nigeria to shut down important economic activities for months.
3. 20-year-old housewife kills co-wife with pestle in Bauchi
A housewife has been arrested for allegedly killing her co-wife with a pestle in Bauchi, the police have said.
The suspect was said to have used a pestle to hit her husband’s first wife on the head with a pestle which led to her death.
The incident, according to the police, happened at Gar Village in Pali Ward in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The UK has reaffirmed commitment to strengthen and deepen its relationship with Nigeria, as both sides confirmed their shared interest in pursuing a potential Enhanced Trade and Investment Partnership at the eighth and final UK-Nigeria Economic Development Forum (EDF held on Monday in Abuja.
The EDF was launched by the former Prime Minister, Theresa May and President Muhammed Buhari in August 2018 and held bi-annually; serving as a platform to address market access barriers, respond to opportunities and challenges of doing business and boost bilateral trade and investment in our two countries.
Since 2018, the EDF has played a crucial role in strengthening the UK-Nigeria trading relationship and through this forum, both countries have been able to unlock finance, facilitate better regulatory link ups, support British and Nigerian businesses and engage on important global issues.
6. Oyo Amotekun uncovers 4 AK-47 rifles, military camouflages, ammunition, others
As part of efforts to stem the spate of kidnapping, the Oyo State chapter of the Southwest Security Network, codenamed Amotekun has uncovered four AK rifles, military camouflages and about sixty rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, alleged to have been abandoned by kidnappers operating in an undisclosed forest in the state.
Other items recovered were wraps of cannabis, a raincoat and two Nigerian Army caps and one beret.
Briefing newsmen on yesterday at the state headquarters of the corp at Moniya area, Ibadan, the Commandant of the corp, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd), explained that the men of the command have been combing the forests in some parts of the state, following the recent abductions of passengers along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

7. NRC to enforce ‘no NIN, no ticket’ on Abuja-Kaduna train route
Passengers without proof of their National Identification Numbers (NIN) would no longer be allowed to board the train on the Abuja-Kaduna route, Transportation Minister Mu’azu Sambo said at the weekend.
The minister also told passengers to brace ticket fare hike.
He said train services, which were suspended after the March 28 bandits’ attack on a Kaduna-bound passenger train, would resume in the next one week.
The attack led to the death of some passengers and about 60 were kidnapped. Others were injured.
8. CJN swears in 62 new SANs
The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, on Monday swore in 62 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) in Abuja.
Some of the lawyers conferred with the SAN rank were, Mr Mustapha Ibrahim, Mr Ikani Kanu-Agabi and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) lawyers Mr Sylvanus Tahir and Mr Rotimi Oyedepo.
The CJN urged the new SANs to take on their new status with all sense of responsibility as it required high standards of merit.

9. FG launches Nigeria’s trade information portal
The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment on Monday in Abuja inaugurated the Nigeria Trade Information Portal (NTIP).
The launch was in fulfillment of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) trade facilitation agreement.
“It is with great satisfaction that we acknowledge the success of the collaboration between UNCTAD, GIZ, EU and the Federal Government”, NAN quoted Minister Niyi Adebayo said.
He said the website on import, export and transit procedures would boost transparency and trade facilitation reforms in Nigeria.
10. World Cup: Real reason Andre Onana left squad – Cameroon coach, Rigobert Song
Cameroon boss Rigobert Song has suggested that indiscipline made goalkeeper Andre Onana leave the team’s squad before their World Cup 3-3 draw against Serbia on Monday.
According to Song, Onana could not adapt to his instructions prior to the Serbia clash.
Song had fallen out with Onana before Cameroon’s tie with Serbia, which prompted the Inter Milan goalkeeper to fly home and leave the World Cup early.
