1. FG relists paralympic sports in 2022 NSF
The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has relisted paralympic sports in the National Sports Festival, scheduled to hold in Delta State from November 28, 2022.
The National Council on Sports had on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, agreed to remove para sports from the 21st NSF.
But in a statement made available to The PUNCH on Monday, the ministry had decided to relist the para sports after consulting with stakeholders.
The statement was signed by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mohammed Manga.
2. ‘Another King Solomon’, netizens react to Ooni’s marriage
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, on Monday married his sixth wife in two months.
The marital rites for his latest bride, Princess Temitope Adesegun, took place in the Magodo area of Lagos State.
Following Ooni’s recent marriages, social media users have likened the Osun State monarch to the Biblical King Solomon, who had 700 wives and 300 concubines.

3. Nigeria will collapse under another APC presidency – Obaseki
The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has warned that Nigeria will collapse completely if the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, is elected to govern the country.
Obaseki, who stated this in Benin on Monday, at the inauguration of Edo State Campaign Management Council of the Peoples Democratic Party, said that no administration had done the kind of damage the APC government had done to Nigeria, noting that the debt profile of the country under the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd)-led government has hit N60trn.
He said that the PDP must win the 2023 elections in order to rescue the country from the ruling APC.
Obaseki asserted: “God forbid APC comes into power, this country will break; this country will fail, it has already failed, because no government has ever done the kind of damage the APC has done to this country.

4. 137 stranded Nigerians arrive from Libya
Another batch of 137 stranded Nigerians, on Monday, arrived from Libya.
They arrived at about 5.15pm, through the Cargo Wing of Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos.
The stranded Nigerians were received by the officials of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, NEMA.
This came in less than two weeks after a batch of126 stranded Nigerians returned home from Libya on October 12, 2022.
5. Buhari launches Special Agro-Processing Zones in 8 States
WITH a resolve to diversify the economy from oil and gas dependent, President Muhammadu Buhari, Monday, launched the long-awaited Special Agro-Processing Zones Programme, SAPZ, in seven States and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Buhari who was represented by Voce President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo described the SAPZ as game-changer, as it would give a boost to food production, wealth creation, employment generation, and export.
He acknowledged Nigeria’s large arable land, relatively cheap labour should be able to feed herself, which he pointed some challenges facing agriculture recently including inflation, high food prices, high input prices, insecurity, Russia-Ukraine War, drought and flooding caused by climate change.
6. Again, court convicts Aisha Wakil, Mama Boko Haram, two others for N34m fraud
The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, October 24, 2022, secured the conviction and sentencing of Aisha Alkali Wakil, aka “Mama Boko Haram” , Tahiru Alhaji Saidu Daura and Prince Lawal Shoyode before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri.
The defendants were prosecuted on a-three count charge of conspiracy and cheating to the tune of N34, 593,000 (Thirty Four Million, Five Hundred and Ninety Three Thousand Naira only).
Delivering judgment today, Justice Kumaliya found the defendants guilty on the three counts and convicted them accordingly.

7. FG tackles UAE over visa ban, flight restriction
Central Bank Bank (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefilele has expressed displeasure over the decision of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to impose a visa ban on Nigerians as well as plan to stop Emirates Airlines from flying into the country.
The CBN Governor said Nigeria was a big market for their business and should not continue threatening the country over disagreements.
He spoke during a meeting convened by the leadership of the House of Representatives to resolve the problem of about $700million trapped funds of foreign airlines operating in the country.
Emefiele said the government was making efforts to ensure the money is repatriated to the countries of various arilines. stating measures adopted by the UAE were unnecessary.
8. ECOWAS concerned over Nigeria’s readiness for 2023 polls
The Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) has expressed concerns over Nigeria’s preparedness for the 2023 general election, saying the outcome will affect the entire continent.
It stated this when a delegation of ECOWAS Pre-Election Fact Finding Mission to Nigeria led by Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, former Chairman Electoral Commission of Ghana visited the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Director of Political Affairs, ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Remi Ajibewa, said that they were in Nigeria on a fact-finding mission ahead of the 2023 polls in line with ECOWAS Supplementary Protocol 2021 to observe elections in Nigeria.
According to Ajibewa, Articles 11, 12 and 13 of the protocol mandated the Commission to deploy electoral fact-finding missions to every member state of ECOWAS about to conduct elections, especially presidential polls.

9. Buhari orders Water Resources Minister to produce masterplan against floods within 90 days
President Muhammadu Buhari has has directed the Minister of Water Resources to lead and coordinate with the Ministries of Environment and Transportation as well as State Governments to develop a Comprehensive Plan of Action for Preventing Flood Disaster in Nigeria.
Buhari’s directive, which was conveyed to the Minister in a letter signed by his Chief of Staff, Prof Ibrahim Gambari, said the plan should be presented to him in 90 days.
A terse statement by Garba Shehu on Monday broke the information to reporters in Abuja.
It added that President Buhari is regularly receiving updates on the flooding situation in the country and restates his commitment towards addressing the challenges caused by the disaster in the country.
10. We did not sign agreement with FG to call off strike – ASUU reveals
Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has disclosed that no agreement was signed with the federal government before calling off the eight month strike.
The President of ASUU, Emmanuel Osodeke, disclosed this on Monday during a meeting with the leadership of the House of Representatives.
It would be recalled that the Appeal Court had affirmed the ruling of the National Industrial Court that asked the union to return to school.
However, before the ruling by the court, the House had brokered some agreements between the union and the executive.
In the meeting, Mr Osodeke said the lecturers acted in good faith by calling off the strike without any written agreement.
