1. Ganduje inaugurates religious tolerance committee in Kano

The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje has inaugurated a 23 member committee on religious tolerance in the state.

The inauguration held on Monday, at an inter-religious conference in the government house in Kano State.

The committee, which was set up following the governor’s commitment to promote and consolidate religious tolerance in the state, was inaugurated after two similar conferences were held with the same goal of promoting tolerance and peaceful coexistence among followers of the different religions in the state.

According to the governor, “The occasion is being considered very well for the development of the state, the nation and humanity in general.

2. Alleged plot to replace Keyamo false, says Presidency

The Presidency, late Monday, said the alleged plot to replace the current spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, was false.

Keyamo whose appointment was confirmed by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on August 4, 2022 became the subject of debate earlier on Monday, when an online news outlet alleged that Buhari and an “Aso Rock cabal” found some of his comments on media interviews disdainful and unfit for the party’s image.

According to the report which claimed to have originated from a presidency source, Buhari perceived recent comments by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, to be de-marketing the regime.

Reacting to the report, the Presidency described it as “fake,” adding that neither the President or the APC’s standard bearer, Bola Tinubu, are unsatisfied with Keyamo’s work as presidential campaign council spokesman.

3. Kano APC campaign council gets new spokesperson

The Commissioner for Information, Kano State, Muhammad Garba, has been appointed as the spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress Governorship Campaign Council in the state.

This was contained in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor, Abba Anwar, on Monday.

According to the statement, the appointment was based on the recommendation of the candidate by the campaign council and was endorsed by the APC leader in the state, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Adding that the office of the spokesperson is with immediate effect and will coordinate the media and publicity activities of the campaign council for the 2023 governorship election in the state.

4. FCT approves establishment of six Regional Development offices

The Federal Capital Territory FCT Executive Committee has approved the establishment of ‘FCT Regional Development Offices’ in the six Area Councils.

Director Information and Communication in the FCT Administration, Muhammad Hazat Sule said the offices are to monitor and safeguard the sanctity of the Abuja Master Plan and ensure sanity in the development of satellite towns in the territory.

“This was one of the highpoints of the decisions taken at the 10th Meeting of the FCT EXCO on Monday in Gwarimpa I District, Abuja, which was chaired by the FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello”, he stated.

According to Sule, the council noted with dismay the abuse of the Abuja Master Plan by people who build structures indiscriminately.

5. PVCs found in inappropriate locations: We‘ll reveal our findings – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it plans to reveal its findings on investigation carried out on alleged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) found in different locations in Nigeria, in the nearest future.

Mr Festus Okoye, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education, said this at a two-day capacity workshop for INEC Press Corps on critical issues in the Electoral Act, 2022 and preparations for 2023 General Election on Monday in Lagos.

Okoye said that the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu was expected to brief Nigerians on the findings.

“The chairman has made it clear that we were going to investigate that particular issue and that we were going to make our findings public.

6. TCN blames ‘sudden drop in system frequency’ for latest grid collapse

After leaving consumers for several hours on Monday without power supply, the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has blamed sudden drop in frequency for the latest collapse of the national grid.

TCN in a statement by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah confirmed that the grid collapsed at 10.51am on Monday.

Mbah said: “The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wishes to inform the public that the national grid experienced partial system disturbance at about 10.51am today, 26th, September 2022.

“The incident was a result of a sudden drop in system frequency, which created system instability. The restoration of the affected part of the grid commenced immediately at 11.55am with Osogbo/Ihovbor back to the grid followed by Jebba/Osogbo, Kainji/Jebba, Benin/Onisha, Shiroro/Kaduna, Shiroro/Katampe, and Alaoji/Ikot-Ekpene. Others are Lokoja/Gwagwalada, Odukpani/Ikot Ekpene, Benin/Omotosho, Oke-Aro/Ikeja west, Egbin/Oke-Aro and Kaduna/Kano.

7. NASS to pass data protection bill within 30 days

The National Assembly says the Data Protection Bill will be passed into law within 30 days of receiving it from the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

The Chairman Senate Committee on Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Cybercrime, Yakubu Oseni, made the promise at a one-day sensitisation workshop on data protection organised for members of the National Assembly in Abuja on Monday.

According to Oseni, since the Federal Government has created the Nigerian Data Protection Bureau (NDPB) for data protection, there is a need to enact a law to guide its operations.

8. Tinubu, Shettima best bet for women – Oluremi Tinubu

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said the ticket with Senator Kashim Shettima offers the best hope of representation and empowerment for women.

She spoke on Monday in Abuja at a grassroots women’s election dialogue by the Asiwaju Women Cooperative Society (AWCS).

Represented by Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, Tinubu started the joint ticket of Tinubu/Shetimma recognises the role of women in the electioneering process, adding that victory at any election in the country cannot be actualised without the support of women.

9. Buhari reacts to death of close ally Rotimi Fashakin

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed grief over the death of Engineer Rotimi Fashakin, his long-time ally.

The deceased was a former Executive Director of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

Buhari said he was saddened by the passing of the “dedicated and loyal party man whose intellect and competence were amazing”.

The president recalled his days as the Publicity Secretary of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), one of All Progressives Congress (APC) foundation parties.

“I’m proud to put it on record that Fashakin was one of the most dedicated and hardworking party officials that I had ever known and related with”, he noted.

10. Boost for Leicester City as Ndidi escapes serious injury

Wilfred Ndidi has reportedly escaped a serious injury after returning early from international duty with Nigeria.

Ndidi was released from Nigeria’s camp in Constantine, Algeria last week Wednesday.
