1. ASSOPEP never claimed to be pension consultants – Official
Association of Pension Desk Practitioners of Nigeria on Tuesday denied an allegation by the National Pension Commission that it was parading itself as a pension consultant.
Mr Nelson Bassey, Head of Administration, ASSOPE, in a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos, said that the association had never claimed to be an affiliate or representative of PENCOM, Pension Fund Administrators or Pension Fund Custodian at any time.
It would be recalled that PenCom had on Friday dissociated itself from the activities of ASSOPEP on pension issues.
2. Oil palm: Experts seek increased investment to halt importation
Agriculture experts have called for more investment in oil palm production to enhance the growth and development of the sector.
They said this in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Lagos.
They experts spoke against the backdrop of report published last week that Nigeria imported N299.6 billion of palm oil from 2017 to 2022.

NO fewer than 12 persons, mostly women, have died in a fatal road accident which occurred on Tuesday in Ebonyi
The incident, it was gathered, happened along the Ezillo axis of the Enugu/Abakaliki expressway.
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) confirmed the fatal accident.
5. Germany to expel Chad ambassador in tit-for-tat move
Germany has ordered the Chadian ambassador to leave the country after the “unfounded” expulsion of its own ambassador to Chad, a spokesman for the foreign ministry said on Tuesday.
Jan Christian Gordon Kricke was declared persona non grata by the government for his “impolite attitude” on Friday and asked to leave Chad within 48 hours.
The German foreign ministry on Tuesday said it had made the same request of Chad’s ambassador Mariam Ali Moussa “in response to the unfounded expulsion of our ambassador to Chad”.
6. Land dispute: How 11 traditional rulers resolved dispute in Ebonyi
The lingering crisis revolving around the ownership of a large expands of land at Ndiefi-Ishieke village of Mbeke community of Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has been reportedly resolved by the traditional rulers of Izzi extraction of the State.
Recall that two weeks ago, some hoodlums numbering over 20 stormed the affected village and destroyed houses of members of the community, whose properties were situated within the disputed land.
The traditional rulers, who converged at the village playground of Ndiefi-Ishieke village, of Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, carried out investigations, interviews with all the aggrieved parties and laid to rest issues bordering on the ownership of the land.

7. Ekiti varsity shuts over students’ protest
The authorities of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti have announced the closure of the institution for two weeks following a protest by the students over the N5,000 late registration fee.
The institution announced that late payment of school fees would attract a N10,000 penalty fee but the students expressed their dissatisfaction, making the management reduce the fee to N5,000.
However, the students rejected the N5,000 reduction and protested the decision of the university authorities.
8. Ex-Anambra Gov Mbadinuju dies at 78
Former Anambra Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju is dead.
His first son, Chetachi Mbadinuju, a lawyer who announced this in a statement on Tuesday, said the patriarch died at 78.
He said the former Governor “passed on peacefully” on Tuesday morning at the National Hospital Abuja after a brief illness.

9. INEC fixes April 15 for supplementary elections in Rivers
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Rivers State has scheduled supplementary elections for Port Harcourt Constituency 2 and Khana-Gokana Federal Constituency for Saturday, 15th April 2023.
This was contained in a statement by the electoral umpire in the state.
Rivers State Residents Electoral Commissioner, Johnson Sinikiem, in the statement, called on all political parties and residents of the areas affected to take note of the date for the scheduled elections.
10. Senate Presidency: Only reason I’ll drop my ambition – Senator Jibrin Barau
The senator representing Kano North Senatorial District, Jibrin Barau who is contesting for Senate Presidency, said he will shelve his ambition if the office is zoned to another geopolitical zone outside the North West by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
He said the legislature is a special institution that requires experience, exposure and capacity to manage the differences among its members.
Speaking when he was engaged by Parliamentary Advocacy Network (PAN), in Abuja on Tuesday ahead of the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly in June, Barau said, some of the rules also confer privileges on seniority and ranking lawmakers.
