Malam Tukur Mamu, the media consultant to controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has said that many of the hostages held by the terrorists that attacked the AK-9 Abuja-Kaduna train passengers on March 28 have fallen ill in the terrorists’ den.
Mamu, a former negotiator and Publisher of Kaduna-based Desert Herald newspaper, who stated this in a statement obtained by The PUNCH in Kaduna on Tuesday, said the condition of the remaining 27 victims was deteriorating.
He, therefore, urged the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to speed up the release of the remaining hostages.
He also debunked the news making the rounds on social media that the remaining victims had been released by the hoodlums, saying that there was no iota of truth in that report.
Saying that although he had withdrawn as one of the negotiators of the train victims, he was still under intense pressure from the families of the hostages as regards their freedom.
There was outrage Tuesday evening, as some yet-to-be-identified policemen reportedly shot a motorcyclist and drove away with the corpse.
The incident was said to have happened at Olayiwola street, social club junction, Abule egba, Lagos at around 6:30 pm.
A source in the area, who spoke with our correspondent, revealed that the policemen drove the corpse away after the incident.
“They (policemen) were stoned by the people to drive them off,” he added.
A video obtained by our correspondent from the scene showed traces of blood on the floor while the people were lamenting as there was still commotion in the area.
The Federal Capital Territory Executive Committee has set up a Ministerial Technical Task Team to work out the modalities for the resuscitation of the Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company Limited.
The committee also directed that the transport company should be resuscitated to meet the goals of providing effective and efficient mass transportation services to the residents.
According to a statement on Tuesday by the FCT Director, Information & Communication, Muhammad Sule, said the decisions were taken during the FCT Executive Committee Meeting.

THE Organized Labour in the nation’s Power sector has given the Minister of State for Power, Goddy Jedy-Agba and the management of Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, up till Wednsday to address their demands or workers would commence indefinite strike from as planned.
This followed the appeal to leaders of the organized Labour in the industry under the aegis of the National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, to shelve the workers’ strike scheduled to start today and give him two weeks to address their grievances.
The Union is protesting the directive by “the TCN Board that all Principal Managers, PMs, in acting capacity going to Assistant General Managers, AGM, must appear for a promotion interview. This directive is in contravention of our Conditions of Service and Career Progression Paths, and unilaterally done without the relevant Stakeholders.”
Meanwhile, the TCN has announced the suspension of the planned promotional interview which triggered the Union’s reaction.

Zamfara Governor Bello Matawalle has signed into law a death penalty on anybody found guilty of banditry, cattle rustling, cultism, or serving as a bandits’ informant.
Matawalle announced this in a broadcast to the people of the state on Tuesday morning.
He said: “On the 28th of June this year, I assented to the bill on Prohibition and Punishment for Banditry, Cattle Rustling, Cultism, Kidnapping and Other Incidental Offences, 2022.
Zamfara State House of Assembly has passed a Bill for a Law to Provide for the Protection of Children in the State and for Other Matters Related thereto.
The bill was passed after it scaled the 3rd reading at the 31st plenary of the 4th session of the State 6th Assembly.
This was contained in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital by the Director-General, Press Affairs of the House, Comrade Nasiru Biyabikki.
According to the statement, presenting the report before the House, the Chairman Joint Committee of Women, Children Affairs and Judiciary, Hon. Kabir Magaji Kwatarkwashi, appealed to his colleagues to accept the report, deliberate and consider to read the Bill for the 3rd time and pass it to law.
Hon. Kabir Kwatarkwashi further said that considering the nature and importance of the bill as well as the peculiarity of the state, the Joint Committee was able to engage islamic scholars, traditional leaders, partners, civil society organisations and other relevant stakeholders through different fora in order to seek professional advice and input as directed by the leadership of the House.
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has predicted that six states would experience flooding in a few weeks time.
Following this, the agency has warned those residing close to flood-prone areas to evacuate before this most dangerous time.
Director General of NiMet, Prof. Mansur Matazu, in a statement on Tuesday, he mentioned the six states as; Borno, Kebbi, Sokoto, Bayelsa and Delta States.
NiMet Director General further said its soil moisture analysis and the weather patterns showed that some parts of these states are flood high risk areas.
It stated, however, that flooding is already ravaging some communities in Jigawa and Sokoto states following increased rainfall in the last few days, as hundreds of houses and swathes of farmlands have been ravaged by the flood.
