1. Emulate Jonathan by accepting defeat, APC urges Atiku, Obi

The All Progressives Congress Campaign Council has called on the presidential candidates of Labour Party, Peter Obi and the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, to accept defeat by calling to congratulate the APC flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The charge was made by the PCC Special Adviser on Media and Strategic Communications, Dele Alake, at a world press conference held in Abuja to address the calls for the Independent National Electoral Commission results to cancel the election.

The development followed the demand by the PDP, LP and the African Democratic Congress for the INEC National Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, to step aside.

The three parties had in a joint press conference on Tuesday alleged that the February 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections were marred with violence, rigging and intimidation of voters.

2. #NigeriaElections2023: Protest as INEC declares Imo APC candidate winner of Reps election

The people of Orlu/Orsu/Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State on Tuesday protested at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Owerri the declaration of Canice Nwachukwu of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the election in the federal constituency.

The people, who protested bearing placards, said no election took place in the federal constituency owing to the insecurity ravaging the area.

They said they were waiting for the arrival of the officials of INEC on the election day but to no avail.

They said they were surprised to read the next day that Nwachukwu of the APC had been returned as the winner of the election.

3. My constituents killed animals, fasted for me to win re-election – Lawan

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has said that his constituents killed cows, camels, and other animals and also fasted for him to regain the Yobe North Senatorial ticket.

Lawan made this known on Tuesday while narrating how he got back his ticket to contest after an initial setback.

The PUNCH had reported on Saturday that Lawan was re-elected into the Senate for the fifth term by his constituents in the senatorial district.

The Senate President noted the people of Yobe North should take credit for the election victory.

4. We’ll review elections, if…. – INEC Chair

Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has expressed the readiness of the commission to review the 2023 general elections as demanded by some political parties “where absolutely necessary”.

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP and Labour Party LP had on Monday led some opposition parties to demand that the election be reviewed midway into the collation of the presidential results.

Yakubu had declined the request, on the grounds that the law was clear that the collation process has to be completed first before any process for review can be undertaken.

5. 2023 Elections: Atiku sweeps Bauchi, Kebbi, as Obi wins Plateau

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has won the presidential polls of Bauchi, Kebbi and Kaduna states held on Saturday.

Atiku polled 426,607 votes in Bauchi, while Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, garnered 316,694 votes, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, gathered 72,103 votes and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, got 27,373 votes.

On Tuesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission. INEC, announced the results, at the National Collation Centre, Abuja.

6. ‘Angry Nigerian women’ storm national collation centre, protest election results in Abuja

HUNDREDS of women, on Tuesday, staged a protest at the venue for the national collation of the presidential election results in Abuja to protest what they described as irregularities in the process.

They also demanded explanation why the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, did not transmit the results electronically from the 176,000 polling units across the country to the virtual results viewing portal as promised.

The placard-wielding women marched along Herbert Macaulay Way towards the collation centre before they were stopped by security operatives

7. Emulate Jonathan by congratulating Tinubu, APC PCC tells Atiku, Obi

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) on Tuesday advised the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party. (PDP) Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, Labour Party (LP) emulate former President Goodluck Jonathan by calling to congratulate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu before the official declaration.

The Special Adviser Media, Public Affairs and Strategic Communications Dele Alake stated this on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said the two presidential candidates should take the path of honour, having received details of the results from their agents at all levels of collation to call Tinubu ahead of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) formal declaration.

8. Stop inciting Nigerians, former NANS President slams Obasanjo

Former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS) Sunday Asefon has condemned former President Olusegun Obasanjo for demanding the cancellation of last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

Asefon described Obasanjo’s letter as self-serving and provocative.

Asefon expressed disappointment and anger that a former President could throw around unverified information

9. Kaduna: PDP wins 10 Reps seats, APC clinches four, Labour Party gets two

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates has won 10 seats out of a total 16 seats for House of Representatives in Kaduna State.

However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates won four seats, while candidates for Labour Party (LP), won two seats across the state.

The seats won by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), include; Kaduna South Federal Constituency – PDP are:

Makarfi/Kudan Federal Constituency, Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, Soba Federal Constituency, Ikara/Kubau Federal Constituency, Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, Kauru Federal Constituency, Kagarko/Kachia Federal Constituency.

Other constituency won by PDP include, Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, Igabi Federal Constituency.

10. I feel good defeating a sitting governor – Jimkuta

The newly-elected senator for Taraba South senatorial district, David Jimkuta said his victory will forever remain indelible in his mind.

“I feel good defeating a sitting governor,” he stated.

The senator-elect who stated this on Tuesday while fielding questions from newsmen at the premises of the state Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Jalingo, urged his party’s faithful to close ranks in order to achieve the same result in the governorship election.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, senator-elect defeated by a wide margin the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who happened to be the incumbent governor of the state.
