1. PDP govs hail Adeleke on Supreme Court victory
Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Tuesday, congratulated their Osun State counterpart, Ademola Adeleke, on the Supreme Court ruling which affirmed him as the duly elected governor of the state.
In a statement signed by the Director-General of the PDP Governors Forum, Cyril Maduabum, the governors described the verdict as “a confirmation of truth over falsehood, a vivid affirmation of the will of the Almighty God in the affairs of Osun State, and without fear or bias, sealing the choice of the people of the state whose determination has finally seen light at the end of the tunnel.”
The statement further read, “This judgement reflects the will of the people of Osun State and a triumph of democracy and due process in Nigeria; and for which we commend the five-man panel of the Apex Court for rightfully setting aside the erroneous judgement of the Election Petitions Tribunal, and for consolidating on the Appeal Court’s earlier verdict.
2. EFCC arraigns man for alleged $5m, N800m cyber security fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday arraigned a man, Opeoluwa Sennaike, before an Ikeja Special Offences Court, for alleged $5 million and N800 million cyber security fraud.
Sennaike was arraigned alongside his firm, Sennaike Consulting Ltd. on a six-count bordering on obtaining money by false pretences, forgery, stealing and possession of false documents.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
EFCC alleges that the defendant fraudulently obtained the sums from unsuspecting members of the society.
3. Navy, NCS officers arrested for robbery in Edo
The Edo State Police Command has arrested a Navy officer, Ibrahim Adamu, 25, and an officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Abdullahi Abdulwahab 26, over an alleged armed robbery and a car snatching.
The state command spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, while parading the suspects on Tuesday, said they were arrested in military uniforms in Ekpoma by a crack team of the command based on credible information.
He said the suspects attacked the driver of an unregistered C300 Mercedes Benz car in Sapele, Delta State, snatched the car from him and also forced him to transfer a sum of N400,000 to their account.

4. Why passport booklets are scarce – NIS, Irris Smart Technology Ltd
Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and Irris Smart Technology Ltd have attributed the dearth International passport booklet to unavailability of foreign exchange from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to aid production abroad.
Both bodies spoke while appearing before an ad hoc Committee of the House of Representatives investigating the proposed domestication and processing of Nigerian international passport in Abuja on Tuesday.
Speaking at the public hearing, the Comptroller-General of the service, Mr Idris Jere said the Service does not have access to the forex it generated.
5. Oyo Assembly suspends LG chair amidst allegations
The Oyo State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, suspended the Executive Chairman of Irepo Local government, Sulaimon Adeniran a. k. a Santana amidst allegations.
Speaker of the Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, made the pronouncement during the plenary session of the lawmakers.
The Vice Chairman, Joel, has been asked to take over the council administration activities pending the outcome of the committee set up to investigate the allegation put up against the council chairman.
6. Dino visits Atta Igala, vows to govern Kogi with fear of God
Ahead of the November 2023 Governorship election in Kogi state, the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) Sen. Dino Melaye has visited the Paramount ruler of Igala Kingdom and the President of Kogi state council of Chiefs, HRM Matthew Opaluwa Oguche in Idah the ancestral home of the Igala Kingdom.
Melaye who was in the company of his running mate, Hajia Habeebat Mohammed Deen, the state chairman of the Party in Kogi state, Engr. Samuel Uhuotu and other stakeholders of the party paid a courtesy visit to the royal father to receive his blessings as they approach campaign and election process.
The Governorship candidate expressed his appreciation to the Attah Igala and the council of chiefs for receiving him warmly into the palace.
