1. CNPP demands Emefiele’s sacking
The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties has called on the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to sack the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emiefele, over his involvement in politics.
Speaking during a press briefing held alongside the Coalition of National Civil Society Organisations, the Secretary General of the group, Chief Willy Ezugwu, and the National Secretary for the CSOs, Ali Abacha, insisted that Emefiele’s involvement in politics was in clear violation of the Public Service rules and the CBN Act.
The group threatened that it would persuade serving judicial officers to pick up nomination forms from political parties of their choice, should President Buhari, fail to sack Emefiele.
“Their intention was to course breach of the peace as a licence for security agencies to give the protesters the #EndSARS treatment. In this light, the hired hoodlums were to sneak into the crowd of protesters and attack the CBN headquarters with weapons while a counter-protest was also arranged for the same day.
2. Jonathan leaves for Dakar amidst controversy over presidential ambition
Former President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, arrived in Dakar on Tuesday to participate in a sub-regional dialogue on sustaining democratic principles in West Africa, his spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze, has said.
According to him, the event was organised by the West African Elders Forum.
The trip came amidst controversy surrounding his presidential ambition for the 2023 election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Eze in a statement titled, ‘Ex-President Jonathan arrives Dakar for sub-regional dialogue on democracy, peace’, said Jonathan who is the chair of WAEF would be declaring the event open alongside Senegalese President, Macky Sall.
3. Yul Edochie’s first wife returns to social media, says faith against polygamy
May Edochie, wife of Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has made her return to social media following her silence after her husband married a second wife.
In her comeback post on Tuesday, the mother-of-four stated that her family and her faith do not support polygamy, though it works for some people.

4. Buhari won’t stay beyond May 29, 2023 – Presidency
THE Presidency, Tuesday night, said that President Muhammadu Buhari will not stay in office beyond May 29, 2023, which should be the expected day for the handing over to another administration.
The presidency’s position came on the heels of the recent remarks made by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Chief Robert Clarke for the President to extend his tenure by six m9nths in order to tackle the security concerns before any election could take place.
Responding to Chief Clarke’s remarks, the Presidency in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said, “Chief Robert Clarke, a very well-respected elder may be sincere in his wish for the President to extend his term by six months. We wish to categorically restate that the President will step down on May 29, 2023, after serving two terms – as per the constitution.
5. 2023 Presidency: Moghalu pays N25m, obtains ADC nomination form
A former Deputy Governor of the CBN, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, on Tuesday, formally joined the 2023 presidential race after doling out the required N25m to obtain the presidential nomination and expression of interest forms of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Moghalu told correspondents at the ADC national secretariat in Abuja that politics in Nigeria should be detribalised for the nation to grow and take its rightful place in the comity of nations.
He noted that competent leaders are found in all tribes and religions, adding that it was high time technocrats, intellectuals and experienced people took power from Nigeria’s career politicians.
6. Kano 2023: Why I anointed my deputy to succeed me – Ganduje
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State on Tuesday opened up on why he anointed his Deputy, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna to succeed him as the next Governor of the state.
Ganduje said the choice of Gawuna as preferred candidate was because he is a complete gentleman who is reliable and loyal.
A statement by Ganduje’s Chief Press Secretary, Abba Anwar said the Governor officially endorsed Gawuna as gubernatorial candidate and his former Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Murtala Sule Garo, as the running mate, for the forthcoming 2023 general election during a stakeholders meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, held at Africa House, Government House, Kano, Tuesday.

7. Accept presidential forms, MOSIEND begs Jonathan
The Movement for the Survival of Izon Ethnic Nationality (MOSIEND) has urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to accept the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential forms bought for him by a northern group.
MOSIEND, which frowned on a statement claiming that Jonathan rejected the forms, said such act was hasty and did not bear the characteristics of the former President.
The group in a statement on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, by its National Secretary Amb. Amain Wiston Cottrell, said the initial reports that Jonathan had accepted to run on the APC platform brought a lot of excitement to many people across the country.
MOSIEND, however, observed that the accompanying statement by Jonathan’s aide killed the excitement insisting that the document rejecting the forms was not fully authorised by Jonathan.
8. ASUU strike: Protest rocks Ilorin as OAU students mobilise for mass action
Students in Ilorin on Tuesday gathered at the entrance gate of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) to protest the three-month extension of the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
Armed operatives, including men of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, were stationed strategically at the university gate.
The students displayed placards and banners, calling on the Federal Government to wade into the crisis.
Other students not physically at the protest ground also created a virtual protest with the hashtag #IlorinProtest on social media platforms especially Twitter.

9. JAMB: 54,000 candidates registered for 2022 UTME from Kwara – Adio
About 54,000 candidates from Kwara State are involved in this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.
Chairman of the Kwara State Television Board, Ahmed Adio, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the state University, Malete, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi, on Tuesday.
He described the number as one of the highest in the North-Central geo-political zone, which Kwara state belonged.
Adio noted with delight that despite the challenges facing the country in different areas, parents, guardians and their children still accord education a top priority.
The board chairman commended the institution for being in session despite the lingering ASUU/FG dispute.
Adio extended the invitation for the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, to feature on its flagship morning programmes, A.M DRIVE.
10. 2023: Most presidential aspirants are not serious – Shehu Sani
Former Kaduna lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has declared that some 2023 presidential aspirants are not serious.
According to him, any aspirant who has not consulted across the 36 states is not serious about his ambition.
The Kaduna State governorship aspirant claimed that most of the aspirants purchasing nomination forms are only playing game.
In a post on his verified Facebook page, the former lawmaker said the aspirants are only concerned about picking forms, and erecting billboards.
He said, “Most of the presidential aspirants are not serious. For the ruling party, they visit the Villa, buy form, erect billboards in Abuja and that’s it.
“For the opposition party, they buy form, visit Minna and Ota, erect billboards in Abuja and that’s it. Any presidential aspirant who has not gone round the states is not to be taken seriously”.
