1. Flood: Atiku gives Bayelsa N55m, says climate change real
The Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has attributed the devastating flood to the impact of climate change, saying the phenomenon was real.
Abubakar, who spoke in Government House, Yenagoa, during a sympathy visit to the Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, on Tuesday, donated a total sum of N55m to flood victims in the state.
Abubakar, who announced a donation of N50m while with Diri and another N5m at the Oxbow Lake IDP camp in the state capital, said the gesture was his token to support the recovery process of those affected by the flood.
He said, “My visit to Yenagoa is to have a personal experience of the devastation that victims of flooding have suffered across the country. Climate change is real. The experience in Bayelsa is disheartening. Human lives and public infrastructure have been destroyed.”
2. No cause for alarm over security threats –Lai Mohammed
The federal government has assured Nigerians of safety and security for everyone in the country.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, gave the assurance in Abuja during a ministerial session at the ongoing UNESCO Global Media and Information Literacy Week.
The government’s assurance is sequel to a security alert issued Sunday by the Embassy of the United States in Abuja.
The Embassy of the United States had said that there was an elevated risk of terror attacks in Nigeria, specifically in Abuja.
3. Court nullifies APC primaries in Rivers
A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Tuesday nullified all the primaries conducted by the ruling All Progressive Congress in the state over unlawful exclusion of some members of the party as delegates to the primaries.
The court gave its ruling yesterday, following a suit brought before it by some aggrieved members of the APC who had, during the primaries of the party, lamented exclusion.
During the APC primaries, some members of the party had alleged exclusion and took protests to the state Secretariat of the party in Port Harcourt.
A claimant, George Orlu and four others who claimed to have purchased nomination forms had approached the court requesting that the primaries of the APC in the state be nullified following their alleged exclusion in the process.

4. Lagos govt handles 5,076 emergency cases in 3 years
The Lagos State Government has handled 5,076 emergency incidents between Jan. 2019 and Sept. 2022.
Mr Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, the former Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations said this on Tuesday in Lagos.
He spoke at a symposium on ”Emergency Systems and the Economy: Impacts and Opportunities,” organised by the ministry.
Bamgbose-Martins, who is now the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, said that of the 5,076 emergency cases; 1,964 were road accidents; of which 1,519 were vehicle accident; 244 fallen containers and 201 trailer accident.
5. National Sports Festival, breeding ground for production of talents – Osinbajo
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesdsy said the National Sports Festival is a crucial activity in the sporting life of Nigeria because it is the breeding ground and the engine room for the production of many outstanding talents.
Professor Osinbajo stated this at the flag off of movement of Torch of Unity for the 21st National Festival to be hosted by Delta State.
Speaking at the brief ceremony that took place at the State House Conference Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja, he said, “Let me first express my delight on this occasion of the flag-off ceremony for the movement of the torch for the 21st Edition of the National Sports Festival, scheduled to hold in Asaba, Delta State from the 28th of November to 10th December 2022.
“The Torch of Unity, which heralds the festival, symbolizes as we have been told the peace and unity of Nigeria and it’s also meant to create awareness of the festival amongst Nigerians and also the world at large.
6. Obaseki responsible for PDP’s unending crisis — Keyamo
The All Progressives Congress APC Presidential Campaign Council PCC has again celebrated the June 2020 exit of the Edo state Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki from its fold, saying while the APC has remained peaceful since then, the governor’s entry into the Peoples Democratic Party PDP has now thrown the opposition party into a wave of existential crisis.
Minister of state for Labour and Employment and Chief Spokesperson for the PCC, Mr Festus Keyamo SAN stated this in a statement issued Tuesday evening in Abuja.
He said; “We read with utter amusement the outburst of the Governor of Edo State claiming Nigeria will break up if the APC wins the Presidential election. This is coming from a Governor who turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to the outrageous and divisive statement made by his presidential candidate in Kaduna a few days ago calling for Northerners not to vote for Yoruba or Igbo candidates.
“This is also coming from a Governor who has so far callously, heartlessly, and undemocratically “broken up” his own State by denying many constituencies of adequate representation in the Edo State House of Assembly by denying the members of their right to take their seats, even though the members were duly elected”, said Keyamo.

7. Police arrest man for allegedly killing father
The police command in Lagos State has arrested a 21-year-old man, who allegedly killed his 70-year-old father.
The command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.
Hundeyin said that the police division in Abule-Egba area of the state got a report of the alleged murder from the wife of the alleged victim, who is also the mother of the suspect, on Saturday.
8. APC kicks as court nullifies all primaries in Rivers
The Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has nullified all the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.
The court gave the verdict on Tuesday while delivering judgement in a suit filed by some aggrieved members of the party who, claimed they were excluded from the delegate elections that preceded the primaries.
One George Orlu and four others, who claimed to have purchased nomination forms, approached the court requesting that the primaries of APC should be nullified following their exclusion.
The court ruled that the persons were unlawfully excluded from the primaries.
Justice E.A. Obile, held that the aggrieved persons were shut out of the primaries unlawfully, describing the process as nullity.

9. Delta 2023: Okowa’s aide, Paleke dumps PDP, declares support for APC’s Omo-Agege
A Senior Special Assistant on Youth Development to the Delta State Governor, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, Comrade Patrick Oghenerhoro, a.k.a Paleke has dumped the governor and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.
Oghenerhoro said he has enormous confidence in Ovie Omo-Agege as a Deltan who desires the development of the State and wellbeing of her people.
He stressed that he believes in his vision to build a new Delta.
Oghenerrhoro further explained that he has carefully looked at the political credentials of all the candidates gunning for the Delta governorship seat in the coming general elections and that only Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has demonstrated capacity and genuine interest towards rebuilding the State.
10. Chairman of Osinbajo ice-cream company — VP to Shettima
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has referred to the vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kashim Shettima, as the chairman of the “Osinbajo ice cream company”.
Osinbajo made the remark on Tuesday at the launch of a book titled ‘Deputizing and Governance in Nigeria’, which is written by the governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje.
“…Distinguished Kashim Shettima, who is also the majority shareholder and chairman of the Yemi Osinbajo ice cream company,” the vice-president, who was a special guest of honour at the occasion, jokingly said.
In June, Shettima, who was campaigning for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for the APC presidential ticket, claimed Osinbajo would not make a good president because he is a nice man.
