The vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on Tuesday, warned against what he described as cyberbullying as political parties squared up for campaigns on September 28.

He also expressed optimism that the PDP would win the 2023 elections because Nigerians had keyed into the project.

The governor who spoke during a summit by the Northern Christian Youth Assembly with the theme, “Unifying Nigeria: The role of Northern Christian Youths and Women”, which held in Abuja, also kicked against the Muslim-Muslim ticket, saying it “is not a good thing to do particularly in a troubled nation as we are in today.”

3. Paulinho strikes late as Sporting stun Spurs

Antonio Conte admitted Tottenham got what they deserved as Paulinho’s last-gasp goal inspired Sporting Lisbon’s shock 2-0 win in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Conte’s side paid the price for some sloppy finishing and two pieces of dismal defending in stoppage-time at the Jose Alvalade Stadium.

Richarlison, Harry Kane and Emerson Royal were all unable to beat Sporting keeper Antonio Adan, while Son Heung-min’s goal-drought extended to eight games.

4. Rainfall: LASG issues relocation order to occupiers on drainage paths

Lagos State Government has issued a fresh warning to owners of all structures on drainage alignments and setbacks to immediately relocate to higher grounds for safety and for easy flow of floods.

The State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello, who gave the directive yesterday, said the move has become necessary as a result of persistent heavy rainfall leading to flash floods.

Bello added that many of such buildings have already been marked in Mende, Maryland and Aboru in Alimosho for contraventions of drainage alignments and may soon be demolished.

He said that it was regrettable that after several of such warnings, the residents of the areas have refused to move but would rather resort to cheap blackmail of having nowhere to relocate to.

5. Aregbesola orders exams for Immigration, NSCDC personnel

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola has ordered the conduct of promotion examinations for deserving personnel of Immigration, Fire, NSCDC and Correctional Service to states, instead of only in Abuja.

7. House of Reps hails Kwara over use of UBEC grant

It also applauded the State Government’s determination to improve standard of education.

The commendation came barely one month after UBEC said Kwara stands out for excellent utilisation of the grants — a feat the body observed is a clear departure from its horrible experience with Kwara State in the past when the grants were diverted, resulting in official blacklist of the state for at least seven years (2013-2019).

Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde has wrested former Deputy Governor Hazeem Gbolarumi for the power to coordinate the parley which the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Abubakar Atiku has scheduled with Southwest party leaders.
