Man Accuses Police Of Compromise
A man identified as Clifford Woko has accused the police of compromise after alleging that a reported case was transferred to Zone 16, Bayelsa State, to pervert the cause of justice.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Woko had filed a complaint of attempted murder against a vigilante group, the Onelga Security Peace and Advisory Council, in the Rumuolumeni community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Woko said he was beaten to a pulp by personnel of the security outfit after he failed to pay a fee termed ‘Marching Ground’, for a parcel of land, prompting him to report the matter to the police.
The complaint made the police arrest three members of the group and raid their base in Rumuolumeni.
Woke told PUNCH Metro that Rumuolumeni chiefs and elders had been appealing to him to withdraw the case against the vigilantes, adding that the police had gone behind him to transfer the case from the Rivers State Command’s Criminal Investigation Department in Port Harcourt to Zone 16 in Bayelsa State with the aim of perverting justice.
The victim called on Governor Nyesom Wike and other residents of the state to intervene and ensure that he got justice in the matter.

He said, “It is a big surprise to me that the Rumuolumeni council of chiefs and elders from the community, who were approaching me regarding this matter for us to make peace, have carried this matter and transferred it to Zone 16 in Bayelsa state in order for them to cover up the brutality that OSPAC meted out to me.
“ I am calling on the executive governor of Rivers State, well-meaning Nigerians and the good people of Rivers State not to allow this matter to be swept under the carpet; all I need to is justice.”
When contacted, the spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, said he was not aware of the transfer of the matter, but gave an assurance that justice would be served wherever the case was transferred to.
He stated, “To the best of my knowledge, the matter is still at the state CID; I am not aware that it has been transferred to Zone 16 in Bayelsa State.
“But I can assure the victim that wherever the matter is, justice will be served in the circumstance.”
