According to an eyewitness, the argument began when Joshua brought out a yam to cook for the family. Charity preferred roasted yam and proceeded to roast it despite her husband’s objections. The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation when Joshua, in a fit of rage, dragged Charity into their room, locked the door, and beat her severely, resulting in her death.
The eyewitness, who expressed dismay over the tragedy, advised couples to seek peaceful resolutions and, if necessary, leave marriages that threaten their lives, regardless of societal pressures.
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, condemned the incident and described it as deeply troubling. He assured the public that a comprehensive investigation is underway and that the suspect will be prosecuted.
The incident highlights the need for conflict resolution and awareness of the dangers of domestic violence in relationships.
