Published

Manchester City have raised “fundamental concerns” with the Premier League, accusing it of proposing “unlawful” changes to rules governing commercial agreements.

The club communicated these concerns in a letter sent to the other 19 top-flight clubs ahead of a crucial meeting next week, where the proposed amendments are set to be voted on.

The dispute follows last month’s landmark tribunal ruling, which arose after City legally challenged the Associated Party Transaction (APT) regulations.

In the letter, City accused the Premier League of “rushing through its consultation process” and emphasized their “strong desire to avoid any future costly legal disputes.” They urged the league to ensure the amendments are handled correctly this time.

The Premier League responded on Thursday, rejecting what it described as City’s “repeated and baseless assertions” about the case and accusing the club of issuing “meritless” threats of further legal action.

Neither Manchester City nor the Premier League provided any public comment on the matter.
