An 18-year-old man, Uchenna David Mgbere, has been arraigned for stealing three bags of rice and cash of N830,000.
Mgbere appeared before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on a one-count charge of stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope, the defendant committed the offence on October, November and December 2019 at Festac Town, Lagos.

“The defendant stole three bags of rice valued at N75,000 and cash sum of N830,000 properties of one Daniel Egba,” Babatope said.
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate Ayisha Grillo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the matter till January 20, 2020 for mention.
