Tragedy struck in Garo town in the Kabo Local Government Area of the Kano State, last Tuesday, as a 20-year-old man reportedly set himself ablaze over failure to pay for the National Examination Council (NECO), EKO HOT BLOG has gathered.
The young man identified as Danladi Shu’aib was said to have failed the exam on three occasions before making efforts to sit for the 2021 NECO exam.
However, EKO HOT BLOG gathered that Shu’aib committed suicide after failing to register for his Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (SSCE).
A resident of the Garo community, Ya’u Ahmad, disclosed that Shu’aib, who was determined to further his education, had earlier threatened to commit suicide if he fails to write the NECO exam.
He, however, stated that the threat was not taken seriously by the residents.
It was further gathered that Shu’aib was later taken to the hospital after setting himself ablaze, but died two days later.

“However, when the fire heat penetrated his body, he started crying for help. People were able to put out the fire and rushed him to the hospital.
“But, two days after, he died as a result of the injuries he sustained from the inferno,” the source disclosed.
EKO HOT BLOG, however, gathered that the late Shu’aib was able to raise half of the amount needed to register for the exam before he reportedly committed suicide.
