Man, Son In Court For Allegedly Assaulting Revenue Officials In Osun

A 58-year-old man, Louis Ezenwaka, 58, and his son, Paul, 25, on Tuesday appeared in a Magistrates ‘ Court in Osogbo for allegedly attacking two staff members of the Osun Internal Revenue Services (OIRS).

The police charged Ezenwaka and Paul with three counts of conspiracy, assault and causing hurt.

The prosecution counsel, Insp. Akintunde Jacob told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Oct. 5, at about 11.30a.m., at Alekunwodo in Osogbo.

Jacob alleged that the defendants assaulted Ms Funke Bose and Olaniyi Temitope , staff of the OIRS while performing their lawful duties.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 516 and 351 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol. 11, laws of Osun, 2002.

The defence counsel, Mr Alade Kayode, prayed the court to grant his clients bail in the most liberal terms.

Magistrate Olubunmi Ajanaku admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100, 000 each and one surety each in like sum.

Ajanaku adjourned the matter until Oct. 27 for hearing.
